Need help! Driver door wont unlock properly
I posted about a week ago about how my drivers door wouldnt unlock properly. I assumed the actuator was the problem so i ordered a replacement. The new one moved freely and was working fine outside the car. I installed it today and connected all the rods. I tested it with the door open the power locks were working normal and everything was fine manually (when you lock and unlock you would hear a click). Once i closed the door i ran into the same problem as before. It would not unlock fully. you can hear the click when it locks but not when u go to unlock it. its like the rod needs to move another cm to unlock the lock. I undid all the rods and reclicked them in place just to make sure eveything was popped in right. the only way to unlock the door right now is to pop the rod that runs to the lock portion on the actuator and manually pull it firm while opening the door handle. anyone have any suggestions? im stumped on what it could be considering two different actuators have done the same problem. odd thing is it works 100% right with the door open, but as soon as it locks it wont unlock.

Did you get a new latch or an actuator? The power door lock actuator has nothing to do with locking and unlocking the door with a key. You could also have a bent lock rod. The one that runs from the back of the door lock to the latch in particular. I have seen bent lock rods be the problem more than the latch itself.

Re: Need help! Driver door wont unlock properly
the actuator is what honda calls the whole thing. the hole assembly inside the door. the rod is pretty straight. im gunna tinker with it here ina sec. but its odd how it works perfeclty fine when the door is unlocked. it opens and closes fine.
kinda confusing but lemme word this right.
if the door is open i can move the interior luck/unlock key normally. it works perfectly fine. but if the door is closed it will not unlock. it does no slide far enuf to unlock the latch. make sence?

Re: Need help! Driver door wont unlock properly
ok after some tinkering this si what ive found out:
from inside the car if i pull on the door handle a few times while pushing the lock/unlock **** sometimes it will unlock and i can open the door. now keep in mind 2 differnt actuator/latches have done this so either both r bad which i doubt or its something else. its almost like the safety feature where u havta pull the door handle so u can lock the door has reversed on me?
another question,
with power locks does the passanger side lock have an extra sensor that will lock/unlock the car by turning the key from the exterior? with the new actuators/latch the passenger key will lock/unlock both doors, but the driver will only do the drivers do?
