How often do you change your oil?

How often do you change your oil?
I have an '01 Prelude I just bought and the service manual says to only change the oil every 7,500 miles... :-o
That seems like a lot of miles to run on one filter and oil... do you all abide by this or change it sooner?

If you are running regular oil, 3K is fine. Synthetic oil does not need to be changed as often.

Re: (girLuder)
if you're using conventional oil you could probably get away with 6000 mi/change.
it really depends on the car, but 3000 miles is way too soon for pretty much any car that isn't turbo'd, raced, or rallied.
synthetics could be run for a long time...especially in oil thirsty h22's--as you top off the crankcase (due to the engine consuming oil at pretty high rates) you're keeping the oil that's already in the case effective. just going off of TBN #'s i'm sure a case of mobil 1 would survive at least 12,000 miles, if not more.
the only thing is, the filter needs to be changed at around 7000 8000 miles. which is why i just change the oil at that point.

hmmmm... so I guess then if I put synthetic oil in it I could go by what the manual says for around 7,500. interesting.
and one more question: do those oils formulated for high milage engines (I think the one I saw was for > 85k) actually do anything? I mean are they worth the extra money ?

Re: How often do you change your oil? (Jarmer)
I use Castrol Synthetic, I change between 5k miles and 6k miles depending on how long it's been since the last oil change.
For those wishing to learn more, I recommend you google for a pdf called "Motor Oil Bilble"
It's extremely useful and it explains I believe everything there is to know.
