Default hissing sound. searched but didn't really help

ok so when i get between 2200-2700 rpm, something hisses and it was only for the first few minutes after driving my car. what the hell is it. according to honda and midas, my exhaust dosen't leak. the hissing started when i got my custom exhaust about a year and a half ago. custom 2 1/4in piping with some n1 muffler. when i got headers, the hissing got a little louder. only this time the hissing is everytime i get in that rpm range not just in the first few minutes of driving my car. any ideas? could the cat possible cause this? even tho honda and others said theres no leaks?

do you have an intake? The sound may jus be coming from that or possibly your header gasket

Good thinking, cause it may possibly be that as well

where would i get a new flex pipe? i'm gonna be getting a ws2 exhaust to replace my custom exhaust anyway. since its so friggin loud. so in the mean time, where could i buy just the down pipe? since the flex pipe is attached to it?

I just reread your thread again, and you mentioned when you bought a header and put it on, the hissing got louder correct? Did you put it on?

may possibly need the gasket that sits in between the header and exhaust piping. Have you tried starting your car and actually checked around to see if you can hear where it's coming from? That would also help us get a general idea of what it could possibly be

jack your car up and put it on stands then get under the car and have someone
else rev the engine up.

listen and feel around each connection in your exhaust for leaks.

if you still find nothing, try spraying a little starter fluid around the intake
manifold when the motor is cold and listen for a change in sound,
you should be able to find a leak if it's there.

hwo long ago did you put the header on? what brand header is it/ my flexpipe on my dc header is leaking badly and i haven't bottomed out on anything and since it's less than a year old they said they'd warranty it and repair it or get me a new one.

ok it only hisses when i'm moving and between 22-2700rpm ish. its so weird. when i rev my motor in park or neutral, t dosen't do it. oh yeah my header is DC sports. but the down pipe is mugen. basically my friend had an h23 w/ dc sports headers, then put the h22 head on his block and got mugen headers for the h22. then he got lazy to remove the whole thing and just removed the headers and kept the down pipe. then he sold me his dc sport header with the mugen down pipe for 150. so yeah. the hissing sound was before i installed my headers though.

I saw this trick at work that might help you. use a water bottle and spray water anywhere the exhuast might leak at. If you see water spray from the exhuast you know you got a leak there. Do it when your engine is cold or the exhuast pipes will just evaporate the water. Thought it might help.
