Default 5G Sportshift (auto stick)?

Drove my friend's 5G lude w/ the sportshift a few times. My car's stick, so when I downshift, I'm used to rev matching. However, on his car, I can't do that so it just jerks really hard every time I downshift. Is there a way to rev match on the sportshift (autostick)? If not, how bad is it on the auto tranny when I downshift and have it jerk like that? Thanks.
