2003 Honda Ruckus bogs at speed
I have a 2003 Honda Ruckus with just over 200 miles on it. Question, can any one tell me how to fix the bog I get at and near full throttle. I am unable to get more than 25 Mph out of it when it used to give me 35/40 Mph.

Re: (ricepapertiger)
I tried that already and I kick it twice, once each tire. not that I don't appreciate the reply but I did think maybe it would be more constructive. Any one else out there with a better sugestion?

Re: (DaveK)
Is it under warranty? Only 200miles and having this problem is odd. It sounds like a fuel issue to me, I'd say take it to a shop and have them look at it. Sorry, I don't know much about the ruckus
*edit* I just noticed it's a 2003, with only 200 miles. I'd say it needs fresh gas and the carb needs to be cleaned. I'd imagine it's spent most of it's life sitting, causing the carb to get gunked up. Also, check the spark plug

perhaps just taking off the float bowls and cleaning out the jets and whatnot real good with some carb cleaner. to remove the float bowl make sure you use a "impact driver" or you will strip the screws. when replacing those screws, its a good idea to switch then out with alen screws. take one of the stock screws to home depot, lowes or whatever and size it up there. if you dont have a warranty and are feeling up to the task, ill be happy to walk you through it all. shouldn't really cost you any money unless you actual broken bits which i highly doubt.

Re: (85)
Thanks for all the comments and sugestions. I emptied out the gas tank and put some fresh 91 octaine and injector cleaner in it. I left it running for several hours (one or two at a time at idle) and had to run it up and down the road for several miles (about 15) and it now appears as though I am back in business. I am now screaming down the road at 35-39 Mph again. Thanks much.
