Rubber Ring for Spark Plug chewed up
Hi.
I have a Honda Jazz 2012. I was trying to replace the spark plugs (there are 4 of them), and noticed I couldn't get my 16mm spark plug socket down far enough to engage.
I then spent an hour fishing out the piece of rubber which pushes over the top of the plug (the white ribbed part). It is 16mm outer diameter, and about 7mm thick. See picture below for where it fits onto spark plug.
This rubber piece is snapped and I've since abandoned the job to try to find a replacement part.
What is this rubber part, and what function does it serve?
Will I damage my engine by running it without replacing this first? (I've already done about 100 miles since)
Thanks

Re: Rubber Ring for Spark Plug chewed up
So this wasn't even in the car in the first place?
This makes sense because I originally started the job and realised I bought the wrong plugs, so put everything back together (with this wee rubber bit on). Clearly the rubber snapped because it wasn't supposed to be there! Duh!
Cheers
