Re: CRV lift kit or bigger tires? off roadin
I wonder if it will be ok if I run
15x7 0-offset with 215/75/15's on a 2nd gen Crv without a lift?
I'm so ready to pull the trigger on this, but I just can't help but be a little worried about fitment without lifting..

I think you will be fine since the 2nd gen has bigger wheel wells. If it does rub it will probably be in the front at full lock. You could always make a set of suspension spacers to raise the crv slightly. If you were local I would let you try my wheels on your rig.

Hey All,
Just wanted to let you know that I ordered OME springs from Rocky Road on 5/22 and they arrived today 6/7. Not bad! Hopefully I'll be able to do the lift myself on the weekend. Wish me luck!

The rear lower control arm bolts were a pain in the ***. One broke because it was siezed in the strut bushing so I ended up having to cut the nut off the lower control arm and buy a new bolt along with a new strut. Make sure you have a spring compressor handy too!

Ya there is enough to do some like rocks and stuff mostly i just drive through ponds and atv trails. the front i ripped of the fender flares " flexing" on some rocks so i just bent the piece of metal that the fender flares are mounted to up. the rear same thing its trimmed to the door.

Im pretty sure im running the biggest tires on here. new 31" duratracs went on last week. i was a bit skeptical because the are an AT not a MT like me thornbirds but, after driving them through a muddy pond about 22" deep I love these tires and would recommend them to anyone. also siping is ridiculous on these so should be great in the snow. I will need an additional inch or two of lift up front to not rub at full steer.

I believe posted i was considering going 33s and a turbo, sorry to disappoint but i went with the 31s because i recently bought a 1985 chevy k10. all my time and money will be invested in completely rebuilding the truck. Built 5.7L 350 vortec, 8" procomp lift, 37" military Baja T/As, custom bumpers,.......

Not bad at all! Good luck with the install

Thanks for the heads up. Just did the install this past weekend. Struts came out a lot easier than expected. My car hasn't seen too many miles from the PO so the bolts were good to go. Sprayed some PB blaster for good measure.
The rear install went smoothly. I believe one of the "nuts" are welded onto the arm if I remember correctly so you just need to remove it from the bolt side. Hopefully this wasn't the nut you had a cut off. Dropping the rear control arm makes the job much easier. Was able to use a spring compressor to replace the spring. The front struts on the other hand were a pain. Spring compressor wouldn't fit and the spring rate must be higher than the rears because the compressors weren't even doing its job. Ended up taking the struts to a shop.
As for the ride, it really did improve like everyone says. It seems to handle better and feels a bit more balanced than before. Previously it would lean towards understeering but now I feel like maybe I could even oversteer if I tried hard enough. Its a bit harsher on small bumps (ie speed bumps) but much smoother and progressive on dips. Maybe progressive isn't the right word but I can definitely feel increased travel and it feels smooth through travel. My tires used to rub on dips but now it's quiet.
My car has 215/75/15 BFG ATs. Here's an obligatory pic. Going to replace the stock rims with soft 8s in the future.
