Is window moulding not standard though? Like can you not grab it from an auto store or something and goe around the window and seal it?
Is there ano generic window moulding like that? or something that will work good and look nice?
I dunno, im no moulding expert

I wish man. Unfortunately that is the reality of it all.

Is this the part you're talking about??? I am unsure, even with the diagram. Sorry if this seems dumb

That molding has nothing to do with sealing the window. If you remove it you should not get any water into the interior. You can just pry a piece out and pull on it and they should come right out.

unless there urethaned in, in which case its going to be a bitch to remove the molding, your best bet it to get the window reset so you have the right molding and good urethane
and yes there is universal stuff, if your set on doing it yourself goto an auto glass place and see if they'll sell you any 3/4 inch universal T molding, it's like a buck something a foot if i remember right
*edit*
that might also be a 5/8 universal T molding, if there willing to sell you any compare it before you buy

That piece you're refering too is a hard plasticy/rubber piece. It's a pretty custom shape. I doubt you're going to be able to ghetto rig something that will look good on there. Just spend the 70 bucks and do it up proper.

At the back corner of this molding is a clip that keeps the molding flush with the body. It's under the hard section that turns the corner. The front egdes lock in under the front plastic trim that edges the front edge of the glass. That gasket is "C" shaped. It goes around the outside and inside edge like this
Outside of car
(Glass) ----] Gasket
Inside of car
If you insist on doing this on the cheap and not spending $75 on brand new, beautiful, aestetically correct molding from Honda, then find some "U" or "C" molding and have at it. Good luck. I don't think anything will look as good as the stock moldings.

I would just pay the dealer price - it'll save you a lot of headache, plus it'll look a lot better.
I was considering doing the same thing as you, but in the end I bit the bullet and ordered 2 brand new ones from Honda. I was surprised that they still have this stuff on stock - our cars are 15+ years old!

Re: wher to get quarter window rubber trim for CRX (b18apwr)
If im bored enough to drop $70 to make it look cleaner I would...trying to fund the B16 (while building a low compression LS block on the side). Saving is a bitch when you're 17 and people want to go out for food/movies/etc every other day.
So these are just locked in with plastic clips? Any way I could *pop* mine back in or something? (refer to pics ^)

Re: wher to get quarter window rubber trim for CRX (TehMoonRulz)
I cant pay for something with money i dont have
All I plan on doing is picking up some urethane caulcking, removing the old moulding I guess by just pulling it, fixing the body of my car and then installing by just throwing in a bead of caulk and then go around the perimater of the window with this
Few questions though
Does the stock crx moulding appear to get bigger at the back corner?
What size and where would I get this stuff? Most accessible
Thanks

Re: wher to get quarter window rubber trim for CRX (TurblowEF)
I love that excuse. What it comes down to is how nice you want it to be. Nothing compares to the quality and fitment of OEM pieces, so $70 for window trim that will last another 16 years, doesn't seem like much, about $2 a year. Now spend $20 on a cheap fix, and you'll probably have to replace it within a few years. Good luck with the project.

the universal trim we use last's just as long as any other trim, the only diffrence would be fitment and a small diffrence in looks

Re: wher to get quarter window rubber trim for CRX (WolfGod)
like Crx Toad stated, the 1/4 panel window molding/trim has nothing to do with the actual seal of the window. right now i have no trim and of course it does not leak. i have noticed on my 88 crx that the trim looks different from what was on my 90 si. the 88 trim looked to be more generic and it also looks new, so i am thinking maybe it was replaced since the car is older than my 90si and the trim is in way better shape.. either way i'm just ordering new trim from honda as we speak they said 30-60day backorder tho

Any auto glass place can get it for you. But the mold really doesnt have anything to do with weather or not its leaking or not. Its the urethane. It takes 15 minutes to do a windshield so it would be really quick to do the small side windows

But generic window moulding will work right?
Any idea of the size?
Anyone have pics of theres installed with generic moulding, I dont see why it would look so much different
