Track/Street ED6 Build
My father bought this car for me when I was about 12. Since then I've grown attached to it. Now that I'm older and have some money may as well build it. This will be an interesting one because the only goal I have is to make it as quick as possible without compromising the any vitals such as the full interior, A/C, etc. My dad owns a quality shop here so parts shouldn't be too hard. Since I've started on the car I've got a d16y8 swap into it with a slightly tuned racing ecu and an Exedy performance clutch. Haven't took much pictures but I will upload what I have until this Saturday when I'm able to work on it again. I have headers and an muffler coming in the mail and the exhaust will be custom made. I got alot of work ahead of me. Hopefully you guys enjoy my progress!
Only picture i took from the clutch install:
This is a temporary intake i made out of some spare parts hanging around here. I mounted it directly to throttle body. It does its job it holding up until i get my Skunk2 IM and TB setup:
As she sits now:
Can anyone guess my daily driver?

Skunk2 shocks and GC coilovers. I haven't heard of anybody running that set up so I decided to try it. Not serious competition racing just to be able to keep up with some of the local audi and g37 around here

Re: Track/Street ED6 Build
Block says y8. I was thinking the same since (well to my knowledge) y8s came with Vtec but the person who owned the motor before me claims the head was what came with the car. His family is the original owner of the doner car.

I'm not exactly sure. Is there any way to differ the head from each other? Also does anyone one know if there would be any substantial difference between the Skunk2 IM and a factory so one with some boring?

Re: Track/Street ED6 Build
I was supposed to post this update saturday but never got the time so here it is. I got the header on with some dress up bolts. I also got the muffler so now im just waiting for the custom main pipe. I took of the bumper to install a USDM bumper. I also dissassembled the headlights to do the black housing mod. Hopefully the car will be back together this weekend. So look no further, PICS!
The headers.
The muffler.

Here is the USDM bumper.
Prepping the headlights for paint. Had a little corrosion in there. Seems like there was a leak somewhere.

Pictures don't work.
IMO skip the skunk2 IM and tbody and search for a y8 manifold. Then bore it for a 60mm B18 or H22 throttle body. You will gain 4mm there and can move the IAT sensor to the Intake where it will read more accurately.
Skunk2 Sport shocks are decent for a driver however i think they are more just replacements for lowered cars. I would look at Konis with the GC combo and extended top hats or possibly a Progress setup. If your dead set on the Skunk2 sport shocks why not just use there coilover setup?

Re: Track/Street ED6 Build
Pics are fixed. Sorry they are so big.
Actually i decided on running a bored y8 manifold. As for the suspension, i went to a car show up in New York and i saw a guy with a CRX running Monroe remanufactured struts on a ground control setup. He said that the ride is suprisingly good so im going to try that for a little while and see how it goes. I would go with Koni but i dont have the funds to build that set up yet because alot of other things need to come first (meaning go fast parts) so i will be just rocking the remanufactured/GC set up till i can get my hands on some Konis.

I wouldn't worry about the extended top hats if you are serious about going fast. You shouldn't be the low if you are driving on the street, in my opinion. But if you need the shock travel, go for it. Progress is a great company too. A little bit better on the wallet, but Koni/GC is proven and I believe goes stiffer (spring rate wise). But I cannot speak from experience with them.

Re: Track/Street ED6 Build
I got some work done today. I finished up the black housing mod to the headlights. they look good in the sun but at light its definitely hard to see lol. But thats what HIDs and fogs are for! Looks like i have to get some black corner lights too. The bumper support i got was a little rusted in spots but overall good conition for a 89 so i sanded down the rust and sprayed it. Got everything test fitted for now. This weekend im going to a junkyard. Im hoping to pull alot of parts there. I will post my findings monday.

Re: Track/Street ED6 Build
Just got some more work done. Ive mostly been touching things up to get a newer factory appearance. I got the wipers done along with the wiper cowl. Now im doing the front bumper and door pillars. I got the bumper in almost fatal condition but it was free so i cant complain. I got everything filled up on the bumper and i got the pillars primed. Hopefully everything will be finished tomorrow.
Got the pillars taped and primed
The bumper is filled up. Still needs alot of attention.
I was snooping around the shop and i saw 4 mysterious boxes on a shelf. Before even opening them I asked my father if I can have them. He said sure they are just steel wheels. Opened them up and found these

13x5.5 Unfortunately they are one piece but they will be changed to a 2 piece 15" with slanted lips. I would leave them stock but it wont be able to fit the brakes I want to run.

Re: Track/Street ED6 Build
Sorry for the slow updates guys. Ive been saving my money since im going to an out of state wreckers this saturday. Im hoping to pull a y8 head and any other goodies i may come across. If I cant find anything there atleast I got some money to buy parts lol. I got my Pablo Picasso on and finished the bumper and door pillars. Heres some pics
couldnt get these little dings out of the pillar. Atleast they arent noticable until you're really close
bumper filled and painted with bumper coating. Looks like i bought it brand new.
How the car sits now. As you can tell Im trying to finish off the A/C with my exhaust tip riding shotgun
