for those who use one of those v-tech controllers .....
what are you guys runnin for a v-tech start rpm? and is there a point that is too low of an rpm?

You shouldnt play with your vtec engagement unless on a dyno with some sort of fuel management.

4000 is way to low. there is a reason vtec comes on at 5000+. Use your low cam

so everyone has a V-tech phone in their cars? amazing i should get one of those! fyi it's vtec
if you want to use a controler on a stock block(or near stock for that matter) be my guest. it's your money and your gas. I will never use one. it's more for bling bling more than anything else

My b16a came with a chipped ecu. My VTEC engages around 43-4400rpms and it doesn't really start to pull hard until around 53-5500rpms. I think it would be a little stronger if tuned back to stock.
My friend is running ls/vtec in an eg hatch with a controller and we went out and played with it and it definately hurts performance to lower it much at all unless you have cams that are made for that.
Run it from stock ecu if possible. Controllers are just handy if you don't want to change ecu's on something like a mini-me swap or ls/vtec.

final set was at 5900 rpms. low cam had no problem reving it up that high, when vtec kicked in, it literally 'kicked'. wasnt just noise.
