Rebuilding my race car motor.
Alright here it is, my father and I are rebuilding the motor out of my race car. The motor is an 87 Integra Motor, code D16A1, with the jspec equivalent being the ZC motor. A few upgrades are in order in the process. We bought a set of Pistons off of e-bay, supposedly fropm the ZC motor. After comparing them with the ones we already have from the 88 D16A3 motor, which is different from the 87, we found they are exactly the same. Both stamped with the code P7M. So we are sending them back, assuming that the seller is just generalizing like people do and calling all the DOHC non-vtec integra motors of that generation ZC motors when they are not. Thus my double question is, what is the difference between the ZC pistons and the ones from an 88 D16A3 motor?? Is there a compression difference. We are already planning to put the 88 D16A3 pistons in the 87 D16A1 block which should raise compression, will the ZC pistons make that any difference?? Also does anyone know where I could buy a PM7 ecu. This is the ecu from the ZC motor and there is an excellent performance chip available for it, on top of the advantages to the current PG7 computer that runs the aspec one. Thanks a lot for all your help.

well if u got a D16A1 then u got a vacumm advanced distribuitor
for that type of engine i actually have a PG7 off a D16A1 87 teg LS.,... it will bolt and run good for you since u are not a 88-89... if u want it i only want $45+ ship (like 10 bucks) u can have it chipped and reprogamed to run with better specs on ur engine.... if u want it let me know... i dont have no use for it..

Re: Rebuilding my race car motor. (JDM EF9)
Thanks but I already have a PG7. This motor came out of an 87 LS Integra, trying to just grab a few more hp out of it, and would really like to get my hands on the PM7 which is a better computer.

Re: Rebuilding my race car motor. (ridge racer 2)
fyi, i ordered 88-89 teg pistons for my ZC rebuild and they were exactly the same as my ZC pistons. so in fact you did get ZC pistons, they are just the same as the d16a3 ones...
