http://crxcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=24974
I started with ALOT of rust. Looked like the car was next to the Titanic...Ill let the pics do the talking...
Patched up the rear end of the trunk from a donor crx!
Some more rust problems...
this side is a total mess...
Some trunk Photos
Passengers side
Custom made rear end!
Before
After
Quick test of what it will look like....

Re: MY 88 CRX Underbody GROUND UP BUILD BEWARE
ONTO THE BODY!
All the famous bondo on my car
new panle welded in
its a bit uneven when u look from the side, but i fixed that later on.
Drivers side now
got a little better at welding at this point...still have loads of room to improve!
Good ol' bondo
here she is all masked up and primed!
and finally cleand underneath the hood a bit, so it gets ready for paint as well!
Masked off the rear bumper for that oem finish
wola...
took the old header up and replaced it with some aftermarket ones to give it a cleaner look in the engine bay..the rusted headshield wasnt looking too good in there...
I used Maguires plastiX to polish my tails and headlights..i must say im very impressed.. The headlights turned out unbelievable...and my taillights had so much fine scratches on them that you could feel them when you rubbed your hand on it...now they got a nice mirror finish to it!
the inner door plastic were also faded to a light grey..satin black paint took care of that as well...looks minty fres installed!
heres some pics of her...only thing missing is the front bumper which is on its way from Charleys place! and some coilovers!
Notice the stickers underneath the hood!!
Ill coat the floorboard one more time tomorrow and start assembling the interior..i cant wait to go for the first fun...its been too long.
AGAIN I SAY..SORRY ABOUT THE DUMPLOAD OF PICS...JUST WANTED TO BRING YOU GUYS UP TO DATE...WILL BE GETTING MORE TOMORROW..!
Its been hell working on this project..especially since it was my first and i didnt know what the hell i was doing..but all in it is a great expierment and goes to show that if you put your mind to anything...it can be done.!

Holy Moly!
I feel much better about restoring my rusty CRX after seeing this thread. lol That is A LOT of work.. I bet that you learned quite a bit doing this and have a new appreciation for a solid Civic/CRX chassis.

This is BY FAR the biggest save job ive seen on a CRX, or any car for that matter. The 2nd i saw the first picture i would of duck and ran the other way. You better make this thing a show stopper after all that hardass work you put into it.

Re: MY 88 CRX Underbody GROUND UP BUILD BEWARE
The parking pole pretty useless for our lhd cars! i just got it since its pretty rare these days..it was basically put on rhd in japan since they got tight streets and parking spots they were able to see the far left corner of their vehicle when parking. The pole is like an antenna with a green light at the top that lights up when its fully opened!
