I'm new to CRX's, just bought a cherry red 87 Si with 133K on it. Man what a gas to drive. I want to goose up the power a bit but I am finding it hard to find parts like headers or cat back systems. Anybody out there know some sources? I am in immediate need of struts (the originals a shot).

Well, Well,Well, Some more 1g owners. I say the more the better. I currently have 3 first gens, a 1985 Crx Si getting a huge rebuild and some body re-fab. A 1987 Crx Si, junk, I broke the frame doing donuts and it became a donor. A 1985 Civic 1500S(I) This is the carb to SI conversion. Its takiing longer than I'd hoped bbut I will write it up and send it to you xenon, also I want you to put up a bulliten on a weak link I found in the Crx frame. Its where every single one rots. Ive seen 4 broken ones it sucks when it happens too. Crx87, I know where every part is for the first gen Crx, Send me an e-mail(check sig) or you can IM me from H-tech. Also, I have a Crx disguised as a 1983 Chevy Caprice. Its real funny to drive.

As far as the intake.. it's easy to make one your self.. Look here
<img src=http://poweredbyrice.homestead.com/files/jmot.jpg>
it was made from a 3" piece of steel pipe no bends needed.. and two 3" rubber connectors you can get at a hardware store.. there was a noticeable difference in top end power.. for the header, DC Sport sells a Ceramic Coated Header that is a 4-2-1. it's made for the Si but if you can do with out your cat or move the cat it'll bolt up...

I've got an 87 CRX Si (original owner), finally burnt a piston or something @ 273K a few years ago (original O2 sensor). Bought an 87 Teg RS "parts car" for it.
Also an 85 CRX Si (since I had a bunch of spares, and like them so much).
Turbobob -- I've found HKS turbos for the 12 valve and the 16 valve, will probably need a few pointers from you later this summer. Thanks, ED

Re: I have a 1st gen too! (Sonic)
Well, Xneon, I'm not to sure the Dc header will fit a carbed Crx. I know for sure that the stock manifold will not, the a-pipe hits the oil pan. You have to swap oil pans. This was in an 85 Civic though, I'm not sure if the Carbed rex is the same as all of mine are Si. Bob, I havent had that problem with Xneons page yet. Also Xneon, I will have alot of more info for you soon, I have the Dx-Si conversion that EVERYONE always asks for. Also, I will have to shange my mods on my 85 cause everything is different now.
Sonic, Good luck with the rear disks. Did you S-can the teg yet? C-Wrecked is boned, nothing left. Going away to the bone yard this week. I need to get some wire to try and keep the glass. Thats it though.

Re: (brandCRX)
The picture in bobs sig is an Si turbo engine. You have the non Si EW1/2 block, with the 12 valve(4 aux valve head) sometimes refered to as a 16 valve, but technically it is not. If your looking for stuff, there are 3 main sites... www.nopi.com www.ground-control.com www.opmmotorsports.com www.rivergate5speed.com www.turborex.com
Try theese, and then let me know. I'll try to help you out as much as possible.

Re: (c-rex)
OK, ive gone to all those sites, and i must say they are good ones. a hell of alot better than anything ive found..but theres one thing that confuses me.
on opm motor sports.com...they have a header for 86 but it says
Header-Civic/CRX & Si.
does this mean they have one for both reg. crx and si.
god im so ****** stupid.
it looks like theres pretty much squat to do to mine except get that teg engine. well anyways, more looking i guess.....

Re: (brandCRX)
Your not stupid, This was new to me once too. You can use the header for a Dx, there are 2 problems The header will hit the oil pan, so you will need an Si oil pan. Also, you will need to either run Si exaust, or custom. I have a custom setup with 2" pipes to a dual outlet 3" muffler.

Re: (c-rex)
ok, honestly now, what would be a better job on my little dx..get the teg engine or get the header with the si oil pan and exhaust. also which one do you think is the least expensive, im very tight on cash!
also im in the process of sanding the old(****) paint job, and this summer ill probably be putting on a whole new paint job...it looks like that civic all the way to the left on the link below this thread that says street racing..just go down and look. nice blue right?
