I try to not jump into discussions on cut-off switches but have to recommend that everybody re-read what "suspendedHatch" says.
Then go in and go to the link that is at the bottom of his posts (which he wrote). This is the <U>best</U> write-up on alarm stuff I've ever seen on the net. (although there is also a lot of information at "the12volt.com" site)
The only thing that I'd fault is that I feel that all wire connections should be soldered in addition to using "nude" crimp connectors & shrink tubing.
As for switches, unless you know the amperage of the switch, use a relay!
When using a relay, there is the added bonus that you can use a smaller switch that is easier to hide.

if you wanna be more inconspicuous, drill a hole somewhere else and run the wires from under the fuel tank to teh hole , then to the ecu. Because some thieves are actually smart and quick enough to remove that cargo area and check for lines for a kill witch.

The point of this thing is to show you the easiest possible way to get it done and working. Its up to you to make it better, to learn to solder, to spend more money on it, to hide it better, to make two more.

somone broke into my crx today, to steal a snap on socket set, and 2 snap on ratchets, and it looks like they tried to start it but my 8 switches stopped them...haha *******

at least it didn't get stolen. I think i get a kick on out smarting idiots. I take more time into what i do becuase i think they will find that one switch or trick then they will find the other and other...so on. I know im wierd

oh yeah trust me I know that . I think i just enjoy tricking people. to me it's like watching with amusement. I hit a kill switch and tell a friend to try and find it and they never can and it's right in the face, literally. I pointed to the area where one of my switches was and they still couldn't find it.

LMAO i did that one time and i had to call some friends over to plug everything in for me because i fergto what i had unplugged.
but anyways, fuel pump cut off is when you prevent any power to the pump so the car doesnt start rite? basically what does it do and how does it work?
what are the advantages and disadvantages of this?
i don't care if im asking noobish questions, i am too lazy to search for anything today.

It doesn't let your fuel pump work, so no fuel will get to your engine, thus, not alllowing the engine to start. BTW, i just wanted to say I picked up all the parts for this today and i am looking forward to installing it.

Back to the original post, I wouldn't use 18 gauge. Use 16 for some overkill especially if you're going to extend it a great deal to a hidden switch. Extending the wire a great deal increases the resistance so your fuel pump gets less power, leading to it producing less fuel pressure. Ideally you'd put a Bosch relay right at the cut point, and then you can run 18 or 22 gauge wire to your switch, but then it gets more complicated for first timers. See note at bottom.
Solder is not god's gift to electronics. It has it's flaws. I use it on every installation I do, but I also use non insulated butt connectors for more than half of the connections. It depends on what the connection calls for. The main reason why I advocate against soldering in this situation is because we are advocating this for all DIYers to do. Any DIYer can work out crimp connections in a short period of time. But those same people trying to solder are guaranteed to expletive up. If youre comfortable soldering, do it. I generally don't solder in this particular situation.
Back to the relay. Its quite simple. Use spade connectors just like on your switch. Run the fuel pump end of the wire to 30. Crimp the dash side of the fuel pump wire into the same spade connector as a short piece of 18 gauge wire and slip the spae connector on 87. Crimp another spade connector onto the end of that 18 gauge branch and slip that onto 85. Then run another piece of 18 gauge wire from 86 to one of the pins on the switch. Run the other pin on the switch to a ring terminal grounded on a factory bolt or self tapping screw into the bare metal of the chassis.

Your engine will crank but not run for more than a few seconds if it even starts at all (from residual fuel pressure). If you continue cranking the starter for an extended period of time, it will kill the starter and drain your battery.
Do this mod in addition to an alarm.
