Default 90 crx lock cylinder replacement.

So first time replacing one of these. The issue here is the ignition switch is from another crx which I do not have the vin for to have another key cut. My son lost my current keys.

So is it possible to remove the lock cylinder from the housing without having the key ? My new cylinder and let should arrive soon but I'd rather not buy a whole nother switch housing as well.

Not without drilling it out, best bet is to have a locksmith unlock it, 94

Can someone answer my question? So the shear bolts on the steering column do we have to use shear bolts again or can we replace them different ones.. if so, what are some that are good to use.

A regular 6-sided bolt won't work very well, as you won't have clearance for the socket to tighten it up all the way. I like to use clutch pressure plate bolts (12-sided 10mm). You do have to slightly bend the ears out on the bracket, but it works well. Or, you could go purchase some socket head cap screws with the correct thread. The shear bolts are only there to slow down a thief.
