SUSPENSIONN springs
iight guys, i need to know whats better, im talking about just lowering springs.
i want performance and realiability, im dropping my 99 si em1 2 inches with 17 inch rims

Bad choice to drop 2" on 17 inch wheels...that will not be a very pleasant ride.
I wouldnt go with either...get some Eibach, H&R, or Neuspeed springs w/ a good shock (Koni or Tokico).

i dont want shocks, i just want my springs, and for my car to be low, and for it to be realiable and handle well lol

2 is a bit too much unless you do not mind the constant scrub. my last civic was about that much on 17's, was annoying as ****. on the springs get some h&r's thats what i got now, they are real comfortable. no excessive bouncing or anything.

If you drop your stock shocks 2", they're going to blow.
It may be next week, it may be next month, but they're going to blow from bottoming out the column.
I suggest you get some KYB AGX's and some Neuspeed Race springs, if you insist on being that low.

a performance shop owner told me, i go to him for performance parts. so i just wanna know what % are u sure that if i lower it 2" it will blow. whats a good height to lower if i dont want them to blow?

yea thats a safe drop.... get the tein s.tech... also if you look around more people buy the teins than skunk2 for a reason and the feedback is good on them

S-Tech's are the general exception to the rule for a 2" drop on stock shocks. They have such a soft rate (almost near stock) that you just have to worry about the excess travel. If you don't drive like a dickwad, then S-Tech's will hold up with your stock shocks.

the teins arent exactly 2'' and not only that the overall construction of the tein springs are better... u can even use them on the stock shocks and have a nice ride for now but eventually get the shocks but the em1 shocks are good

ummm thats pretty much what i just said that the teins are good for his setup and can be used on stock shocks

This is why:
Tein S-Tech's have a much softer spring rate than Skunk2 springs.
The stock spring rate for an EM1 is 201 lb/ft front / 100 lb/ft rear (progressive/progressive). The S-Tech's are rated at 235F/140R (P/P). The Skunk2 are rated at 520F/291R (P/P).
Essentially, there is only an approx. 40 lb/ft increase for front and rear with the S-Tech's, and less than a 2" drop. With the Skunk2's, there's more than a 300 lb/ft increase in the front, and almost 200 lb/ft increase in the rear, and the drop is over 2".
The quality of the springs has nothing to do with it. They're both quality parts, just for different applications.
