Default So I installed a new clutch on my D16Y8 and...

it dosent grab on anymore. I backed the car out the drive way, started driving down the street and punched the gas a bit, i got to around 4500rpms and the car stop moving.

I tried putting it in first, second, third, fourth, fifth, reverse but the clutch dosent engage at all. I can put it in any gear, and if i let go of the clutch it dosent stall.

While i was installing it one of the 6 pressure plate bolts broke. And i decided to leave it like that.

What went wrong ? Throwout bearing ?

Yeah, Pretty much the same thing happened to me.. I was reversing out of my driveway for a test drive, put it in first and it didnt go anywhere.. I would put it in gear and all that and it wouldnt stall.. Got back under it and noticed the axle had poped out cuzs it wasnt in all the way! I thought I had to redo everything too!! Haha Good Luck!

What are you bumping this for? People already told you what to look for. I would pull everything back apart again and extract that bolt though, you'll get some clutch chatter otherwise.

Yeah, one off your axles must have not been all the way in. When you check them if indeed its popped out, check that the splines werent damaged (grinded down). Otherwise the next time it pops out, you might not be so close to your house.

I jacked the car up and they seem to be in place, I even spun them by hand and they were stiff and werent slipping, they were turning though, so they seem normal to me.

Im guessing the clutch fork assembly and throwout bearing aren't on right, im gonna extract that pressure plate screw out so I can do the throwout bearing and fork while im at it.

What size extractor should I use ? The pressure plate bolt is about 3/8 of an inch thick, but i want to use an extractor thats thin enough to get it out, but that also wont cause any damage to the flywheel or pressure plate. Any suggestions on the size of tje extractor that i should use ?

If the axles are fine, then you may have installed the clutch disk backwards. Regardless, you need to drop the transmission again and recheck the clutch installation.

Can't be done on most if not all Hondas. You literally can't get the pressure plate on if you try to put the disc in backwards (some other vehicles you can)

I never tried to install one backwards, but I noticed when I installed a new clutch on my 97 Civic, it was not immediately clear which way the disc should go.

Hub out, always. Sometimes the disc will say flywheel side on it, sometimes it wont.

I didnt put it on backwards, the flat side of the disk is supposed to face the flywheels, otherwise the pressure plate bolts wont reach.

Ima start taking apart right now, thanks for the help and i'll let you guys know wassup

sounds like the pressure plate is shot or the clutch grenaded inside there, thats the only possible thing, cause as long as the clutch and pressure plate is good. it should move. granted your not gonna get it into gear if the master, slave, fork, or throwout bearing failed, but you said you can put it in any gear and let the clutch out and nothing happens.

and 2 more problems with what you said

1- never... NEVER over torque a bolt. it stretches it beyond the PONR "point of no return" ie. bolt is forever stretched. can damage threads and in your case break it off.

2. why would you not replace that broken bolt. the rotating assembly is a precisely balanced piece, and that one broken bolt head, while not seeming like a big deal, is throwing the balance off greatly and can cause premature wear on all bearings, and journals.

So should I buy 6 new pressure plate bolts ?
And can you reccomend the size of the screw extractor I should use, considering that the pressure plate bolt is about 3/8" thick

Bolt should only be about the metric equivilent of 1/4" diameter, maybe 5/16" it's been a while. drill with a smaller bit and pick an extractor that fits the hole.

Is the broken bolt protruding from the flywheel surface?

I finally got the little bastard screw out with no hassle, simply by hand.

Now my question is whats up with the pressure plate, clutch or flywheel ? Do they look healthy ?

Are those marks on the flywheel&pressure plate normal ?

Is it safe to use the same size&thread bolts with a different head ? Nobody carries the pressure plate bolts.
