Question on lowering my civic
I'm gonna lower my civic after winter, put 17" white rims on it. I'm not gonna race, just drive daily or whatever. I know i need a camber kit, but do i need shocks or springs? some kid told me i needed one of the 2 so it doesnt put as much pressure and bust. i just need to know if i need springs or shocks..thanks.

Re: Question on lowering my civic (EVIL_Vap133)
Well you need one of these three things to lower your car: lowering springs, extended travel strut-cup kit or adjustable struts (coilover shocks). How did you plan on lowering your car without at least one of them?
And you don't need a camber kit for daily driving unless you lower your car more than about 1.75 inches. Tein S-Tech springs and KYB AGX struts (see my sig) perform really well, do not require a camber kit to negate horrible tire wear and are adjustable from hard to soft.
I do not recommend 17 inch rims.

ok dude when you lower your car with coil over it comes with NEW spring, you don't need new struts however it will make things better, and he most likely doesn't like 17's cause you have to use a thin tire and you can feel every lil bumb in the road, just a guess besides i think they look to big, and you can get springs and new struts for under 500 good ones to in the sponsers forum there was a post for kyb agx for 350 and you can find springs for 250 easly good one too. but i would look into coilovers they give you great adjustability and you can have youre car just were you want it

Tires are expensive, the rims get cracked easily, and a good lightweight 17 is expenisve as crap. Oh yeah, and they rub.

if u lower it too low ur shocks will give out. if ur gonna lower pretty low i suggest u get koni or tokico shocks, or if u got money get a whole coil-over system like tein, jic, tanabe or apex. its ur choice, good luck

Well, I agree that the tires are incredibly pricey and that a lightweight 17 inch rim is expensive as hell, but I've never had any experience with large diameter rims with small rubber breaking. The only 18's I've personally owned, though, were Centerline spun-forged rims for my minitruck and they were light and super strong...and expensive .
I mainly disagree with 17's on a civic because A.) they look too big and interupt the proportionality of the car and B.) they rub without special offsets and actually hinder handling because of it.

alright Bro, you dont have to get new shocks right away, but when u do need shocks go w/ a good well trusted brand, see i have Skunk 2 coils on KYB AGX adjustable gas shocks, its hard to go wrong with KYB or Tokico adjustables, and you dont need springs and shocks b/c your replacing the stock spring w/ lowering springs or coilovers, 17s are kinda whack for daily driver
