Oil drain plug torque?
Hey guys,
I just want to know what the torque specs are for an oil drain plug for a D16Y8 (1999 civic).
Please advise, thanks.

I dont know the correct torque specs, but make sure you are using a new crush washer each time. And just make sure its on good but dont over tighten it...
you'll never need to torque it down to spec then, but if ur ****, its good peace-of-mind

Re: Oil drain plug torque? (dohcdelsol)
Thanks delsol,
Yeah i know about the overtorquing problem.......my dealership did that to my car and stripped the threads in my oil pan (i found that out 5000kms later when i took the drain plug off myself). Anyways all i did was retap it at a bigger size and just got a bigger drain plug. Its been leaking a bit (firstly i don't think i torqued it tight enough, and second I'm not using a crush washer right now).
I'll be doing an oil change in several weeks and would like to torque it to spec and also put on a crush washer.
Hit me up if you guys know the torque spec.

Re: (senn1n103)
Thanks Senn.......i was just told by someone that I should let the crush washer determine how much i should torque it. After i get the drain plug hand tightened, i should give it another 1/4 turn with the socket wrench.....correct?
Since the threads will have oil on them......... the torque will be a little different anyway.
Thanks.
