ok anyone know anything about pacing? As in when a officer says you are going a certain speed because he is pacing you? how accurate is this and is it valid evidence in convicting you of a speeding violation? Is there any vehicle code that you guys know about that pertains to pacing? any help would be much appreciated.

if I understand the meaning of "pacing" properly, if the cop cannot get an accurate radar measurement for whatever reason, the cop can record a speed from his own speedometer and, if you are going faster than the cop (or the same speed) then the cop can get you for whatever his speedometer is reading.

Two points:

1. If the cop was using his speedo, when was his checked? When was yours checked? If the cop does not know, and you got yours check (dated from a mechanic) then you can say you were going 25mph, and you are correct, not 30pmh like the cop said. Got a mechanic friend that can help?

2. If the cop say, he use objects to judge how fast you were going. What did he use? Light pole? OK, what is the distance between the two poles? Use your high algebra to see if how he count equals to the speed he thinks you were going or not.

over here in oregon it is legal and valid. it even says on the ticket how they caught you. in little check boxes: ___radar ___paced ____photo etc etc
