Depends on how much you build. Some people rev to 8,000 RPM on a stock block and head. The more you build and reinforce, the more you can rev.

Re: ls/vtec redline?? (sikcivic95)
lol well if your using a b16 or gsr ecu, your redlines going to be up in the 8k. Its not your redline they were talking about, they were saying oh since its a B20(or B18a) you cant rev it that high it cant take it. Which is a load of crap.
U can take an ls to 7600 no prob on stock internals...throw some arp rod bolts and u can hit 8k no prob. Im building an lsvtec and im taking that bitch to 8k when i shift.

Re: ls/vtec redline?? (error)
ive heard alot of stories about ls/v's throwing rods after 3 months when u rev it to 8k on comletely stock internals on a regular basis, since u will be well exceeding the stock redline of the block. ive also heard of them lasting, but its all on u and if u got money to rebuild if it blows...or just do it right the first time

just as he said. just get some new bearings for your rods and crank, arp rod bolts and head studs then ur good to go.

this topic has been covered so many times, i personally wouldnt take a stock ls bottom end over its stock redline, redlines are there to protect your motor, it will eventually let go.

so your telling me that the "redline" on a stock b16 block with a 1.52 or 1.51 whatever rod/stroke ratio can only go to 8k because tahts the "redline"? lol n3gative. I know your talking about the ls bottom end, but you said you wouldn't take the bottom end past the "redline", seems liek 1 ls/vtec horror story goes a long ways and the many good stories go no where.

Re: ls/vtec redline?? (Red Drag0n raWr)
theres no way an ls/vtec is going to last as long as a gsr motor, no way, no how, if honda intended for them to be this way, you wouldnt have to run external oil feed lines etc.
