this is EK specific but its just the same for every other honda, only the part number are different

door liners for power windows: 72321-S03-A11 & 72361-S03-A11
some kind of stick caulk. i used this crap. it was all the had at home depot at the time. if i have problems with it in the future i will let you know...

Don't use this kind of caulk. It doesn't stay tacky and will dry out and flake off. I think the best thing to use is going to be butyl rope or tape.

this is how your new door liners come to you from honda. i found it helpful to open the package first and lay the liner out in the sun to soften it up and get the creases out.


take your old liner out. make sure you save the locater pins (circled in red) and don't forget to unscrew the door handle mount




the adhesive on my doors had degraded to the point that it wouldn't hold the liner in place anymore.
to get the old adhesive off peel off as much as you can by hand or take a wd40 soaked rag and rub on it. i used a plastic bondo spreader to help me pull of as much as i could before rubbing with the rag. it helps is you coat the scraper with wd40 too.
the wd40 will turn the adhesive to a milky gray liquid and soften it up to let your roll it off. just keep rubbing and using more wd40 if you have to. make sure you soak up all the gray liquid with your rags.
if the adhesive has hardened to the door you can flake it off with your fingernail.


once you get all the adhesive out you need to clean the door with something to get rid of the wd40. you saw how it dissolved the old adhesive, you don't want that happening to your new adhesive.

honda was nice and put grooves were we need to put the new adhesive

just peel off rolls of the caulk and mash it into the grooves.
there are several drain holes in the door. i made the adhesive stop at the same level of the drains in the hope that any water that gets trapped in here will go out though the drains.


my old door liners didn't do this for each train and i had patches of mildew on my liners along these drains.
when you are finished putting the caulk it it should look something like this


make sure your liner is facing the right way. the clear plastic indention should be facing in side the door

now pass the locater pin though the holes in the top corners of the liner


now pull the liner taught and press it down along the caulk.
once you get the liner stuck to the door put the door handle mount back.
once finished it should look something like this

now just put the door panel back on and enjoy.

Edit; a quick note, on the passenger side part of the door lining is a bit short on the front top side. it won't reach all the way to the groove in the door. just move the caulk in a bit here. i know it sounds confusing but its pretty obvious once you get in and start doing that door

the wd40 dissolves the adhesive. it makes it less tacky too so if you smear some wd40 on a scraper the adhesive won't stick to it.

buping an old thread but i promised an update if i ever pulled the door panels again.
I pulled the doors off today and found out that caulk didn't hold up as well as i would liked. It has hardened up in spots and no longer holds the liner up. I will try something else (byutal tape) and put up the results

What all exactly does the liner help with? Moisture? Sound deadening. Mine has never had it since I owned my EJ8...and I never really thought about replacing it till now.
