Default HOW DO YOU WIRE THE COOLING FAN TO STAY ON CONSTANT

i did a search on how to wire the fan to keep the fan on constant..but i didnt find anything with details...my car keeps over heating and i think its becasue my fan comes on for a short period then turns off...when the fan turns on thats when the temps start to drop...can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to wire a switch or how to wire it so that the radiator fan stays on constant and turns off when i turn off the car.
thankyou.

Overheating problem, huh..... How high does the needle go.

I would check radiator cap radiator hose and all the other minor stuff first. Or could be a bad radiator, or the head.

do not add power to it. ground the fan switch. it is very simple. i did this in 10 minutes. i put a switch on it, and can turn it on whenever i please. only, the ignition switch needs to be in the on position.

look int the hood fuses, and the one that is labeled fan relay, just put a paper clip in there and if ur fan turns on then u will have constant fan the whole time and should help over heating problem, i dont recomend this as a permanant solution but it might help for the time being

if your car is overheating you dont just want to make the fan run continuously there is obviously another problem. check your radiator fins and make sure you definately have a full coolant system. feel your radiator hoses make sure they are both hot and full. if they are not, change your thermostat, its not opening up or ur low on coolant. chances are its the radiator, thermostat or low coolant.

also make sure you bleed out any air that may be in the system. like the others said it seems like there may be another problem within the cooling system

I agree. You should go over the entire cooling system to determine the source of the problem, rather than just try to remedy it with a "band-aid" fix.

The fan only cools the car while sitting at idle. Even driving 20 MPH provides more cooling air than the fan can. If your car is overheating there is some other issue that you should be dealing with instead of bandaiding the problem. Having the fan on while driving will actually decrease cooling efficiency, because the fan will be providing resistance.

Test the T-stat, and get a new OEM one if it's no good. Then flush and bleed the system.

alright this is what i did so far
- replaced all cooling hoses
-flushed cooling system
-bled the cooling system
-new thermostat
-new radiator cap
and still not working...

i ran the car till the fan came on...i noticed that whenever the fan came on thats when the temps started to drop...but when in traffic for a long time...the car gets really hot...but when the traffic is moving then temp drops...so i think if i run the fan constant then it should be fine.

I just stuck a jumper wire in the fan switch plug, fan comes on when car is turned on.

Did you ever change the water pump? I would not recommend on keeping the fan constantly running. You are not getting to the root cause of the problem. Do it once, the right way.

If you really want the fan to stay on constantly, it would take your car longer to warm up not unless there is a switch.

yes i forgot...waterpump($30 froim your favorite local parts store) after a long time the fins corrode and wont pump coolant as efficiently. once agian. check the fins on your radiator. and what is your coolant/water mixture? if u have it too low the coolant will boil...overheating

If you decide to direct connect your fan put a toggle switch to be able to turn it on n off. On all my cars I always direct connect the cooling fan and never had any problems as long as I put a toggle switch and fuse. Done it on my 1994 civic and 1998 Eclipse GSX.

Or better yet, fix the cooling system problem.
