I drove 100 miles, changed oil. This oil change removes all the break-in materials inside the engine. I then drove 1500miles not going over 3k then i change the oil again. Then I went every 3k and have gone ever 3k ever since. Runs great and doesnt burn any oil.

with moly rings, warm it up.... drive the whole "up to 45, coast to 30, upto 45 coast to 30" for another 15-30 minutes.... then drive normally.

Do not baby it... drive it how you plan on driving it.

There are so many people with so many theories.... I have done my own personal 2 this way and no problems whatsoever

i have heard as soon as you see the temp guage move take it out and beat it up.

if you let it heat up for 30 you will wear the glaze off the cylinders walls and the rings wont seat as good.

Engine Break-In (1,000 Miles)
Use a Honda engine oil filter ONLY!!!
Use a 30W, non-detergent, non-synthetic engine oil ONLY!!!
DO NOT take the engine over 3,500 RPM during the first 200 miles of operation. You can increase the maximum engine speed by 500 RPM for every additional 200 miles of operation.
DO NOT operate the engine in a "steady state" mode (no open-road driving).
Change the oil and filter after 1,000 miles of operation. Synthetic or non-synthetic engine oil can be used. We use, and recommend Mobil 1.
Use Honda engine oil filters ONLY!!!
People that say break it on how you plan to drive it is just plain stupid

I beat the **** out of my last motor, fresh hone new rings, and it ran like a champ till i cracked the ringlands and blew the #4 cylinder rings out of it, it ran for a good 3k all nitrious all the time (about 25-30 bottles worth) and then another 3k on turbo and nitrous (b16 just couldn't take it ) it is all in what your used to. Also i dont' agree with a lot of the manufacuers steps for doing thing it is an uber safe way to do it because the general population is lets face it NOT on honda-tech and raggin the **** out of hondas and cars like most of us do, try some differant methods because everything works differant for everyone, not one person is going to get the same results out of everytest. A lot of people respond to these types of things that have never rebuilt a motor and just run on a used block that they bought as a swap and they have no experiance use what works for you, also this is a touchy subject so no one jump on my nuts because i have an opinion or a method that works for me

You havent worked at one yet. The new cars at ours got beat the **** out off after they got PDI inspected. PDI is a Pre-Delivery Inspection where the technician goes over and and has a checklist and makes sure everything is ok w/ it. Then they go for a test drive and well, they do as they please, it isnt their car.

Okay... and how many motors have you built???

Moly rings seat as soon as the motor is up to running temp and ran... usually set in the first 10 minutes... I agree with the filter, oil and that is about it.

You break in a motor like that, it will run but why go through the hastle when it is unnecessary.

just let your motor warm up, then take it and punch it...alot of pple will let it coast real high on each gear so it'll seal the rings...having the rings seal correctly will give a healthy motor

ok this is what i do.... i run the car under 60 mph for the first 500 miles... then i change the oil replacing the plug with a magnetic one to get all the **** out.. then i run the car till a 1000 miles staying under 70 .. then chage the oil again.. and clean and replce the magnetic plug, i use synthetic motor oil and beat the car till 3000 miles then chage the ol and your good to go!! .. keep the magnetic plug handy.. use it every 3-4 oil changes.. i picked up 2 soon magnetic plugs for 25 ...

When I get my motor built hopefully next month or early march, I am going to do the following:

1. use non-detergent 30w oil and honda filter for first 5000 miles
2. let car warm up to op. temperature
3. drive around the corner and in 2nd gear take it up to about 7.5k full throttle, then lift my foot from the gas and let the rpms drop on their own to about 2.5-3k then do it again and again and again...
4. change oil/filter at 20 miles total
5. repeat step 3 for another 80 miles of fun
6. change oil/filter again at 100 miles total
7. repeat step 3 for another 100 miles but in 3rd gear this time (probably not to 7.5 though, maybe to 6 or 6.5 as thats getting up there in speed)
8. change oil/filter again at 200 miles total
9. take road trip to SoCal and hit up the best tuner/dyno I can find...
10. change oil/filter again right after the dyno (should be about 500 miles)
11. drive car normally, the break in is done, but will change oil/filter at 1000 miles total, and again at 3000 miles total, and again at 5000 miles total, when I will switch to synthetic oil

Mmmmmmmmmm new engine, I can't wait

And how many motors have you built? At least he posted breaK in method, and it is not a bad one at that.

Yea dealerships beat on the new cars (I know from personal experience) but it is not like they do it for very long (normaly a 15-20 minute drive) and it is necessasary to beat on it during the test drive as well to make sure suspension, brakes, steering, powertrain, and drivetrain will work well in real world conditions.
