Default 95 civic: horn blows a fuse

wats up honda tech. i got a 95 civic coupe and for some odd reason recently if i use my horn it blows the fuse that controls the horn and brake lights. yeah yeah i did some searching but i havent really found anything. i'm almost positive that theres an aftermarket horn siren on the car because my nieghbor has a 95 civic also and his deff sounds like a honda horn but mine doesnt. any advice is appreciated.

if you want to go back to oem horns, buy one from the honda dealer

your fuse blows most likely because your horn is shorted out, a horn acts as a resistance in your horn circuit, when it shorts out, the resistance lowers and amperage raises, and can blow the fuse

Check the horn switch.

if it was grounded somewhere after the horn, it would stay on the entire time, and if the fuse was replaced on a shorted horn, it would blow instantly

if it was grounded somewhere before the horn, the fuse would constantly blow as soon as you replace it

the horn switch is supposedly a simple on/off switch, if it was bad and wouldnt complete the circuit, the fuse wouldnt blow and the horn would never work

if the horn was used before once and for a very long time at one press, it'l short out the horn and the lack of resistance will blow a fuse

The OP can test your idea by unplugging each of the two horns one at a time. The unplugged horn that prevents the fuse from blowing is the bad one.
