Default Header swap, need ideas

Hey yall.

1995 civic ex d16z6 5mt

i have a headerback exhaust system, all no name parts, i believe it to be 3 inch pipes from the header back. i was thinking its time to get rid of the rusty cast iron OEM header in favor of a new header. I need to know, i had a 4-2-1 header on my old integra and i loved the "rolling" exhaust note similar to a subie, but is it a 4-2-1 header that gives an engine that noise? I know its not a true subie unequal length header noise, but the 4-2-1 header on my b18 had a distinct noise to it.

I want to know. 4-1 or 4-2-1, which creates a more pleasing noise?
As far as the install goes, its unbolt the exhaust head bolts, undo the flange on the other side, and disconnect the o2 sensor, correct? And just reverse the process? Or would a 4-2-1 not directly swap in?

Thanks.

I was thinking to just swap a whole apexi N1 kit over? I got some tax money in, so if anyone wants to pitch good sounding exhausts my way I'm all ears.

APex'i N1 will do that. Had one on one of my old D-series Hondas. No aftermarket header, either. It's their muffler baffling, and resonator.

Hey theres this peice in my exhaust kit that looks like a 2 inch pipe with a 3 hole triangular flange welded on one side, and another 3 hole triangular flange on the other side, but on the other side the flange piece isn't welded, it slides freely along the 2 inch pipe but cant fall off the pipe because the pipe has a belled end. What is this for? I'm piecing together the exhaustin my living room right now trying to plan this all out.

You would just mate those two flanges together with 3 bolts and a gasket. When you put the bolts in the sliding piece pulls down tight against the end of the pipe.

Where in the exhaust system does this little piece go? I've watched 1 or 2 install videos with my full exhaust kit and it doesn't have this piece. My belief is its a "universal extension" of some sort since I got an eBay kit for 92-00 Hondas and apparently the 5th and 6th gen exhausts actually are slightly different. I can post a pic if u want

The flange closer to the camera slides up and down, and you can see the belled end on the pipe.

I suspect that's an adapter to change the fitment from a USDM CX/VX to the USDM DX/EX/SI of the 5th gen.

If I recall correctly, there is about a 3 inch difference in where the header collector ends between the cat in header version and the cat under car version.
