How to put power door lock actuators on your EG.
Here is a DIY on how and where to put the actuators on your doors. step by step, minus the wiring.

start by takin out the door panels.
- 3 main screws on the panel. (obvious locations)
- start pullin off from edges, dont be afraid to pull.

once off you'll have to remove some plastic insulation thing, just tear it off where you need to.

Get your actuator ready and here it goes.


put it behind the frame (inside) it wont interfere with the window when its rolled down.
drill the holes, (measure it out right so they line up)



Next you have to take rod that the actuator comes with and join that rod to the rod that switches the lock on and off. you'll have to cut the new rod to fit correctly since it will be too long. screw them together with the provided connector and presto.

(it should look like this)



now take some speaker wire and conect it to the proper wires coming from the actuator (don't have details on which) and lead the wire through the door like so.



Now you'll have to unplug the sleave that runs the wires from the door to the inside (under the dash)


cut a hole through the sleeve and slip the wires through. like so.



At the top of the sleeve you'll need to poke another hole to put the wire back into the dash, use and strethched out wire hanger to lead the wire through.



now the wire is inside the car and the eletronic part is up to you. all i know is that you will need two relays and connect it to the alarm or keyless entry sys. probably not too hard.

You'll also want to wrap the speaker wire with some black tape and zip tie it to the sleeve. to make sure it dont keep any slack.

I am very interested in this and im sure more people are... can we get some more advice for the install? have you used the power locks yet? how did they work?

I did this for keyless entry with my alarm. I love it.

would you have to use the relay that is sold with the actual alarm, or could you buy an aftermarket one from like radioshack?

its really not the tough i installed a viper560xv into a 2004 f250 and added door lock actuators and it only took me 15 maybe a door.. very nice upgrade to civics that dont have power door locks...

I am not sure which actuators you are using, but I got some from Best Buy, Harada DLA-01 (i think that's right) and they didn't work at all. Spent forever getting those bitches in the car, wired up and stuff and when I clicked my remote for lock they didn't do ****. They moved slightly, but weren't strong enough to actually move the whole lock rod. Which actuators did you use for your doors and have you actually tested yours yet?

from what i understand a relay is a relay it dont matter, you can get it at radioshack, and no it didnt come with the alarm, we needed to buy two more. but they cost peanuts, less than 5 bucks.
i connected mine to the keyless entry on my alarm, there's no controls inside the car. its a coupe so who needs em. but hope the post helps some of you. good luck.

my actuator are "DEI" (thats what it said on them) which is a well known car alarm brand, i got em for like $15 a piece. pretty standard actuators though nothing fancy.

i have 1 actuator (extra ) i want to wire up to my alarm to my driverside door...am i just curious about the relays

i saw the actuators after the installation and they work great. they dont hesitate for nothing.

looks good i think im going to buy a kit off of ebay for my 4door they only cost around 40bucks.

did u happen to weigh the parts before u installed them? just wandering how much adding power lock, and windows might weigh.

if your wondering about the relay.. go get a door lock relay or a dei 451m..

it will do everything you need for the door locks to work correctly..

very easy to install also..
