DEAD STARTER! I NEED HELP FAST!!!
So my starter on my car is dead. It is parked in front of my house. That's not the problem. The problem is getting it to the shop on June 3 for repairs. It IS a stickshift so I can push start the ******, but I know if you whack the starter solenoid it might loosen the carbon deposits and let it work. I don't want to push start it if I don't have to. My question is, where is the starter solenoid located? And what does it look like? Pictures will be MUCH appreciated. The car is a 1995 honda civic EX with the D16Z6. Thanks.

Never been under your car at all have you? Think about it. Where would the STARTER solenoid for the STARTER be? Get yourself an FSM. And what's the deal with not replacing the starter? Disconnect some wires and 2 bolts.

Are you even sure the starter is bad? You didn't list any symptoms.
Try jumping the starter solenoid with the battery. Have someone push the clutch pedal or jump the NSS, and make sure the car is in neutral. If the car starts then you've got a problem between the ignition and the starter. If the car doesn't start then proceed to the next logical test.
Google to see where the starter and solenoid is located.
Also, the starter is not something I'd even remotely consider paying someone to install. A starter can be removed and re- installed within 15 minutes.

I remember you telling someone to man up for not having power steering, now you are saying you don't want to push start a car. :irony:
For real though get a shop manual like marc said.

Get a long socket extension or a breaker bar or a metal pipe or something. Have someone hold the key in "Start" while you tap the metal part of the starter with the pipe. If the starter has just now started going bad, it should start up after a couple whacks. This will work as long as you have someone to turn the key, or until the starter goes completely. BTW, starters are easy as **** to change, its just two 14mm bolts, a 10 or 12mm nut on the power wire, and a small clip. Even a beginner can easily change one in an hour or two.
