d series header "rattle type noise"
so i just installed the header and no problems at all except for when i rev really high it makes a loud rattle type noise, a little over 3000rpm's, i only hear it in 1st, 2nd to 3rd gear and seems to disapear during 3rd...im running a 421 stainless steel header on my current d16y7 to the stock exhaust system but not too sure about the brand, the tag is missing, ive noticed the diameter of the header is larger but seems to fit fine going in the stock mid piping, could that be the problem? and for somone who knows about the stock manifold, you notice there is a hanger type bracket at the end of the stock manifold, do i need to get a hanger for where it meets? would that eliminate the noise? the noise seems to be coming from where the header and the stock b pipe meet, anyone know how to eliminate this loud fart rattling noise when rev'd high? i dont think its touching anything and there is no heat shield where the header and the stock b pipe meet...just the bolts that hold the two together but the noise is really getting to me, sounds like my once mighty d series turned into a roaring rice motor...

Re: d series header "rattle type noise" (96civikEK)
During your install, did you remove and re-install any heat shields? There are a ton of them, that's why I ask. 20% of rattling in the exhaust is a heat shield, 70% of the time it's a loose bolt, the other 10, somethings fubard

no heatshields removed and reinstalled, im currently not using any from the aftermarket headers to the muffler, i checked all the bolts and they are all secure and tight so i dont know what it could be...it doesnt rattle or make a noise when idleing its really quiet but just when rev'd above 3000rpm's the loud rattling noise is present...whats fubard?
