You dont want to wait till they seize to lube them up. It will be too late then.
My suggestion is this. Go to O'Reilly's or CSK or whatever, and get a new set of seals. They are like 4 maybe 5 bucks, IF THAT, and it will save time in the long run.
And, yes, you do want to use a high temp synthetic grease.

Just make sure you lube the pin bores too, it helps out. But clean them out with brake parts cleaner or brake fluid first.
