replaced the axle on my eg but it won't go back in to the hub.I counted the splines and it's the same number.is there a special way to get it back in to the hub even my old one wont fit.

wd40 huh,I've tried everything I took a part my whole front suspension and still could'nt get it.I ripped my lower ball joint boot.I could'nt find the circlip on the lower ball joint I got GSR spindles anyone know how to get it out?

You have to start it in and then possibly whack the other end with a mallet to get the c-clips to snap into the diff. Or did you not even get it started?

make sure its lined and and give it a couple whacks with a rubber mallet (as not to damage the CV boot), if possible try to distribute the weight over the boot.

yeah it's in at the transmission side but it won't go in to the hub/spindle side.I'm going to try pb blaster and grease.

get a wire brush and clean out the inside of the hubs. then apply some grease to the hub and cv splines (axle grease works great. then line up the two straight and get the axle in as much as you can. After that slam the hub towars the car until the axle goes through. If you can get 4 or 5 good threads on the nut, then you can use an impact to suck the rest through. DO NOT BEAT ON THE BOOT SIDE OF THE CV, you will tear the boot.

Alright it's just that the old one just slid out i was expecting this to be the same way.I;m going to try to heat up the hub and see if it expands a bit and then try it.

the hub bearings have rubber seals and there is also rubber dust seals on the hubs. I wouldn't reccomen heating it up, but i guess whatever you gots to dooo's.

yeah heat it up did not work to well it's to cold here.the grase did'nt work either

are you sure everything is the same size???

I never had a problem like that...

Maybe something is damaged... inspect the hub for damage and anything that could block the axle sliding through it...

yeah I measured them side by side and counted the splines. I'm having trouble installing the old axle as well.

grease the hell out of the hub and cus and hell at it as you ram it into the hub, its always worked for me lol =P

i always have the same issues no matter who's car i'm working on...what i do is wiggle that bitch in as far as i can, turn the axle nut around to just screw it in a few turns, use like a flat head to pry on the nut and keep screwing the nut on everytime you get a twist on the nut...then when you think you have enough out, unscrew the nut and then just put it on the correct way, this always works for me no probs...takes a little time but hey...it works! gl

What makes it not go in is the coder key. Make sure its pretty around in a circle as much as possible. Keep the axle straight when putting it in and what i did everytime was wiggle it as much as possible. Sometimes it goes in quick sometimes an hour lol. Its all about luck

found out my problem.The axle was defective the splines were a tad fatter than the oem onesmsame number but fatter.problem solved thanks guys.Ih yeah and grease works great.

Had to replace studs on hub. I removed hub and brought to machine shop . When I went to install it seems axle is holding it up. I disconnected tie rod that is not the problem. I can line everything up when axle is not in place. Did axle slip out of place in transmission?
