Default 2000 honda civic cranks but wont start

Hi i have a 2000 honda civic. B16a2 motor and a 5spd transmission. The other day i was at a light and when i let the clutch out it lost power and stalled and wouldnt start. I have a code reader but it just says "connecting". It used to read the codes before. I unplugged the negative terminal on the battery and checked all the fuses. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Jump the service connector instead and jot down the codes that way.

For the code reader issue, voltage test 7.5A hood fuse 43. See FAQs sticky for fuse box diagrams.

For the no-start issue, do these:

1) Turn key from off to ON(II). (i) Does the CEL in the cluster turn on and stay on or turn off after 2 seconds? (ii) Does the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds?

2) Is there spark at all 4 spark plugs?

I had a similar problem like you and I had to change my distributor cap and rotor.

OP, please don't go buy a distributor cap and rotor just yet because of this last post. Get the codes up first and then we'll go from there

Does the fuel pump prime?

Check fuse 9 and whether the timing belt snapped.

As mentioned, you can skip the code reader and pull codes by jumping the service connector.

No spark, no fuel, and CEL doesn't work.

Swap the CEL bulb with a known good one in the cluster and then check whether the CEL now works.

Also check fuses 44 and 13 using a multimeter.

Also turn key yo ON(II) to check whether the oil pressure light turns on and stays on.

I pulled them all and read the ohms for each and replaced bad ones

Unplug the main relay and test whether the main relay connector gets battery voltage from both fuse 44 and fuse 13.

Default no power to ECU, 2000 civic

Hi i have a 2000 honda civic with a b16a2 motor swap with a 5spd. It cranks but doesnt start. No spark or fuel. No power to the ECU (p2t). Tested pins b1&2 and b9&10. Anyone have any idea where the problem would be? My fuses are all good.

Test whether voltage from fuses 13 and 44 reaches the main relay connector.

Figured it out. Fuse 44 was blown. I had only checked the ones under the dash.

If it blows again, there's a short in the circuit.
