Hey guys-

I have a strange question regarding the VTEC in the Si versus the VTEC in the 2017 models for the Accord and Civic. When you are driving your Si and the engine 'kicks in', is this only with the manual transmissions? A few of the 2017 Civic models have VTEC, but are automatic transmissions. So, will the automatic transmissions also allow for the engine to 'kick in', or is this only specific to the manual transmission? I drove a 2017 Civic yesterday, with VTEC but it was an automatic and I didn't experience the engine kicking in the same way as my Si. Any help is appreciated :-) thanks.

Auto or manual it works the same.

Honda never intended VTEC engagement to cause any surge or noticeable sudden increase in power. It was always meant to be a seamless engagement.
