HELP! pressure blow off opaque gas released
This morning I went out to my car and the battery was completely drained. I jumped the car and within a minute there was a large pressure blow off that emitted an opaque gas from below my car. The release lasted 5 to 10 seconds and was followed by a faint hiss.
This is the second time it occurred and I'm not sure how the battery and pressure release are connected. The first time the tech at my dealership said there was no freon in my AC system so they bled and recharged it. They also added a dye because they could not find a leak and said it was likely a very slow leak. I explained repeatedly that it was a significant high pressure release and they were very dismissive of what I was saying. The techs responded that the hiss they were hearing was likely an issue with the battery fluid or a slow AC leak and basically said it is impossible for freon to release under high pressure the way I explained.
TIA Rich

Re: HELP! pressure blow off opaque gas released
if i had to guess i would say you ac clutch relay is stuck causing your battery to run dead, also it will cause the high pressure valve to blow off which is what u saw, i think i had a car at work that did the same thing, check it out and let me know

19slocivic97,
You were correct. The ac clutch relay is bad. Unfortunately that is the tip of the iceberg. The dealer also told me the compressor is shot and they're still trying to diagnose the source of an electrical draw and also looking into whether the entire ac system has been "contaminated". I'm looking at a $2000 repair minimum.
Do you think my compressor went because it wasn't properly diagnosed 6 months ago?

Re: HELP! pressure blow off opaque gas released
The compressor wasn't bad after all!!! They replaced the ac clutch relay and the compressor worked fine.
19slocivic97, Thanks for your help.
