Default Cabin Air Issue

Hi all,

I have a 2001 Civic EX and, for whatever reason, the fans for the cabin air decided to not work. I turn the dial, for both direction and speed, and nothing happens. How would one go about fixing this?

P.S.: I searched the forums and couldn't find anything relevant to cabin air fans failing...

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't work at all. I checked the fuse and it seems to be intact, nothing looks broken. As for the relay, I can't tell if it's gone bad or not, so I guess I'll just go pick one up at some point

Thanks for your help, I didn't think to check the fuses at all.

Also check fuse #14 in the fuse box under the driver's side of the dash board.

If it still doesn't work after checking/replacing the relay and fuses, post again.

Don't forget to check for HVAC DTC's.

That's what it sounds like to me. Should be lots of fun tracking down the loose connection. I'd start with the connector(s) on the back of the HVAC heater control panel, then move on to fuse boxes and whatnots.

So i put a new relay in and checked fuse 14 under the wheel and nothing has worked. I did the HVAC DTC test, where you hold down the defogger and recirc. buttons and the recirc. button flashed. I take it this needs more in-depth electrical work? Btw, fuse 14 is for R/C Mirrors...

The flashing indicates a code. Which code was indicated?

Fuse #14 is for the A/C compressor fan relay, Blower motor relay, Climate control unit, Condenser fan relay, Heater control panel, Power mirror actuators, Radiator fan relay, Recirculation control motor, Rear window defogger relay.

I got 12 flashes, so I guess I got a problem in the blower motor circuit. Any idea where this circuit can be found?

Thanks for your help, btw.

Damn! Just got my new blower motor, installed it, and found out it still doesn't work. I redid all the steps in the troubleshooting, but it leads me to two answers: Buy new motor (already did) and fix an open in the wire, which I'm not about to do because that would entail me taking out alllll that wiring to find one split. I did the DTC test again and got the same 12 blinks...Guess im out 50 bucks...

Edit: I'm thinking of taking apart the stereo area, at least to get behind the dial that controls air speed, and see if maybe there is an open there. Any clue/tutorials on how to take apart the dash without destroying it?
