Default 2003 EX: I have oil in my coolant.

Hey honda tech!

I'm currently in the middle of doing a timing belt and water pump change, and when I drained the coolant from the radiator and disconnected the water pump, the coolant is mostly black and there is black caked onto the blades of the water pump.

Can anyone help me with troubleshooting this? This is my first time opening up my own engine. I'd also like to add that I've been going through oil really quickly so there's a leak somewhere, and part of it must be going into the coolant.

More than likely, you've got a blown headgasket.

That is my thoughts as well. The car drives(drove) perfectly fine with no problems that I could hear, see, or feel, which wouldn't be the case of were a cracked head, so hopefully that's all that is wrong.

Hi. I got the same situation : used my car more than 2 years with no problems. Than,in one day with weather temperature more than 25 degrees i turned on conditioner (before i can`t do it cause i repaired it 1 day before this) i fount that temp is higher than in a middle of cluster pointer. Next 2 days got antifreeze leak less than for 1 our of using. The result is that problem in the upper head of engine, there is a very little place beetween cylinders where gasket separates with antifreeze cooling system.small crack gave this leak.
I calculated the sum for buying new consumables ant than made a decision - cheapiest best way - buy contract engine from Japan with i-Vtec.))))
Iа you want, probably i can try to find a photos of my car AF-leak.
