My EK project.. (story)
So, after years and years of wanting one (6 years to be exact) I finally got an EK. I've had quite a few of other Honda's and different cars but never came across an EK that I liked or could afford at the time. About 3 months ago I picked up a 1998 Civic dx hatch for $500 bucks. It needed some work but I didn't feel to bad. About 2 weeks after I picked it up I found a wrecked 1997 Integra GSR with 106k miles. So, I swapped the engine out of the Integra and have been parting it out piece by piece since. I kept the rear disc setup and ran the Mesh wheels on my car for a while but have now gone back to the stock steelies. I'm now in the process of getting it ready for paint. I picked up some used front end parts to do the 99-00 conversion last week so today I started stripping the car. I'm going to paint it Championship White. It might be played out but I freaking love it. I'm also planning on getting thin side moldings and I already got a VIS duckbill spoiler. I'll be doing the 99 dash conversion too along with a pioneer double din DVD player that I picked up a few weeks ago. As far as the engine goes, I have a used Jackson Racing Supercharger that will be put on next spring.I know that so far this has been pretty much useless reading for you guys so I'm going to post some pics. I'll keep posting as I make progress.
Got the windows pulled out and molding removed.
In the process of stripping the paint. Got in to some Bondo. Aircraft stripper is awesome.
Got the body painted. Still waiting on painting trim. New bumpers, hood and fenders are waiting to get done too.
Picked up two sets of doors to swap everything to power.
New components for 99-00 dash. Wiring installed for power windows and locks.
Just got the fenders, hood and bumpers done. Started test fitting today. They'll be off one more time before they're on for good. Also finished my 99-00 dash conversion. Added a pioneer dvd player.
Okay.. got the rest of my trim pieces painted and on. Just need to finish up a few interior things and bolt the wing on. Ended up getting some HX wheels for now. Found a guy who was able to powdercoat them. They turned out awesome. Almost an exact match to champ white. So stoked. Waiting on tires right now for them.
Here is a cell phone pic of it right now. 7-3-10
It's finally drivable!
Okay.. put on a different set of shoes. Just rota grids but they still look good enough for now. Also got my Rear CTR lip painted. LOVE IT!

I forgot I had this thread but ran across it today. I still own the car (7 years later). It mostly just sits in my garage but it has gone through some major changes. It now has blue Recaro DC5 seats. Volk TE37 wheels and a nicely tuned GSR engine. Fully built making just over 500hp. It was dyno'd at 455 whp and I have since made a few small adjustments that have brought the power up a little bit.
This car is one that I hope to always have. It sits comfortably next to my new project. A 1991 Acura NSX. That car is at the same shop this was getting body work done and paint in the next few weeks. Anyway, I'm updating this as much for myself as for anyone else but feel free to comment. Good or bad.
Peace!

+1 for doing what YOU want to do with it. plus i can't say im not partial to champ white
very awesome pickup, especially for only 500 bones.
some say that's luck to come across a deal like that, i've been told that luck is when planning and oppurtunity come together. Looks, like your waiting 6 years paid off. good luck and keep us updated

Man, I thought that car was bangin' in black with the LS meshes. Personally, I wouldn't go with the white, but I think I'm biased having seen too many half-assed color change jobs. If you change the color, go all the way with it.
Nice car though, and great find for the price. Good luck.

Ya.. I feel like I did pretty good picking it up for what I did. I was even able to drive it as it was for a few months. Sold the stock engine for like $400. haha.
I would have left the LS mesh wheels but they weren't in the best shape. I could have powdercoated them or something but 1 was totally screwed. I want to get something else but don't know what yet.
If any of you guys know someone that has a stock EM1 front lip then let me know. I made a post in the wtb section but haven't had any luck.
