Agreed. but I would also check your idle and see that its set to factory spec (I think its 750 or something, but its on your hood). Could also be a dirty IACV but 90% of the time its a motor mount.

Thats because the idle drops when in gear...I bet it goes away when you are driving. I would if your idle needs adjusting adjust it, but mainly the motor mounts cushions a lot of the engine vibration.

change your transmission mount (right) and left engine mount the rubber collapses and gives that anoying shaking in gear and more when the a/c is on. these two side mounts is what supports the engine so they take the most beating compared to the front and rear, I've replace many of these mounts and the customers are pleased with their non vibrating vehicle. front engine mount is more of a stiffener same as the rear. BTW the side mounts may not be cracked but are collapsed. you'll see the difference when you compare them. front engine mounts crack often but this will not solve the shaking only the forward and rear movement of the egnine/trans.

how d othe mounts that the engine hangs on take less of a beating then the ones that absorb the torque of the motor trying to move?
my experience is the side mounts go bad quickly after the torque mounts die.

I think the front and rear motor mounts take more abuse than the side motor mounts. But, have them all checked.

He stated at idle the the vibration is apparent but goes away when the car is moving. now How would the rear and front engine mounts cause this at idle when there's no back and forward movement. at idle the side engine mounts are suporting the engine/trans. but when accelarating the front and rear cushion the torque movement. and his question was not while the car is in motion!! but at idle. Now if the rear engine mount was broken under accelaration you will most likely hear a thump. just a little clarification...

That makes no sense... I don't own any automatics but I do know that when you put your car into drive your engine torques and pushes your car forward the only thing holding you back is your brakes and that just lets the tranny slip. I don't know about any other car but I know a honda tranny can always slip until the last gear when it locks. Hence the reason some cars lose whp when they are automatics.

Look, a vibration at idle could still be caused by the front and especially by the rear mount. Why? Because most rear mounts are vacuum controlled. When your car is idling below 1000 rpm in or out of gear the computer tells the solenoid to apply vacuum to the rear mount. And when you increase rpm's over 1000 then no vacuum is applied by the solenoid and the vibration goes away and the rear mount hardens up. Hence, the rear could be leaking from the hose or the mount itself.
