taking the head off of a 89 accord.
yay, I discovered that one of the spark plugs hole has a stripped thread.
There's no way I can make the spark plug to go in all the way...this sucks.
I dont trust on Thread Chasers, because already tried once w/out success.
So does anyone know how to take the head off of a 89 accord.
Thanks in advance.

The smart Alec remark would be:
"Disconnect everything that doesn't look like a cylinder block"
but that would be disingenuous.
Basically it's easiest if you detach things in assemblies, and just set them aside; rather than disturb wires, hoses and such.
Things such as the Intake Manifold, the exhaust manifold can be detached from the head and set aside out of the way.
I would suggest a supply of masking tape, so that you can make labels for everything that does require disconnecting.
You're also going to have to disconnect the timing belt, valve cover and distributor wiring and coolant hoses. Once all that is out of the way, you've access to the head retaining bolts.
Please, Get yourself a Repair Manual. Not only to aide in removal, but also for the procedure for timing the camshaft and other reassembly procedures.

Damn, it seem like its going to be a pretty hard job to do.
Is there a site on the internet where I could download the Repair Manual for a 89 accord.
Thanks

Unfortunately not. Someone tried it several years ago, and within a week was hit with a Copyright Infringement Law Suit. It's all about money, you know...

autozone has a repair info section that can walk you through it.i just finished my 1990 accord.there's a company on ebay called J&C that has complete heads ready to bolt on for a couple of hundred bucks.you can unbolt the intake and leave it in place, remove the exhaust manifold, remove the engine mount on drivers side, remove the distributor, the valve cover, power steering pump(unbolt and lay to side),timing cover, coolant hose, and i think its about three sensors.pace yourself!!i saved myself about 600.00!!
