shaking 91' accord
I have a 91 Accord. It vibrates really bad when it idles. If i rev the engine at while waiting at a stop light it does not vibrate nearly as bad. Also it does not vibrate during normal driving. I think it has something to do with the idling. All the motor mounts have been replaced and it did not help the problem. It does not vibrate as much with the AC off but it is still agrivating.

Same here, my 96 Accord vibrates a lot when idling with the AC is on, but once I turn the AC off it's fine.. anyone know why this happens and how I can fix it?

Re: shaking 91' accord
Hey, i have a 92 Accord LX and it does that too. when youre at a stop light or something the car vibrates BC the rpm goes down to low. Mine only does this sometimes, like it only dips down inot low RPMs. my friend told me thats a sign that your motor could possibly be ready to die, (or at least thats what he said about my car). But what u can do is adjust the idle valve. Its where the gas wire under the hood is. I cant describe it, and I dont even know if honda's have it. but i know nissans do. CHeck somewhere around the gas wire under the hood. there should be a place where u insert a hex key and tighten or loosen it. Hope this helps

Start with the motor mounts, the front and rear are most often changed while the 2 side mounts are usually forgotten. If you have old mounts, the increased load from the AC comp. kicking in will exaggerate engine vibration considerably. If any adjustment is made to the base idle via the screw on the TB, make sure it's set to spec and not increased to smooth the vibration. Don't even mess with the throttle cable either unless you know it's been tampered with.
