I ordered a half cut and am debaiting about cutting the front end of my car off and haveing the half cut welded on. Has anyone seen this done. My buddy at the body shop said that they fix really messed up cars like that all the time and they are actually stronger than from the factory. Let me know what you guys think.

I used to live in england so it's not to bad for me. It would be something trick and less work to swap and engine and do a tranny conversion. How often do you see a car in the US with a right hand drive. I would have the same power just something different.

ive seen a bunch in CA actually, but they are bad *** looking IMO. yes, they insurance companies do cut cars in half and reweld them together. i dont know about htem being sronger than factory, but i know for a fact they do that. its cheaper because most japanese cars are unibody vehincles, so you just weld the back or front half of a car back to it.

I live in the midwest and I have never seen it so I would like to be one of the few who have it done. Plus the 5th gen US and JDM models are really similiar.

Going RHD just so you can look cool and be different is kinda gay imo. But if you dig it then more power to you. I know a few people that have gone RHD. Their cars are holding up just fine so far. But you know the cars alignment will never be the same nor the strength of the frame.

there is nothing gay about it. It's called being different. That is why all of us do what we do to our cars. Just think how often do you see a RHD car. I could order an accord from japan and spend 10 grand on the car and another 7 grand to get it converted to us specs or spend 3 grand and get it done and have the motor and tranny that I want. It's a whole lot easier to convert than to pull the engine and swap it out.

I vote for performance. As 5th gen cars are the last JDM/USDM shared car bodies, a RHD 5th Gen is most likely the optimal weight distribution based on analysis of ITR/CivicR platforms. In those cars, the corner weights were almost perfect with the driver in the Right-Hand seat.

The trick is to not cut your car according to how the JDM car comes in. The best/ most strongest way would be to cut up your car at certain weld points then cut up the (already in half) JDM car to match these cut points. Reattach the unit-bodies at these cut points. This will be more in labor yes ($$) but certainly you'll have a better/stronger/longerlasting car. Keep your receipts to show this for the next buyer...

Do you think that all JDM cars are fast? well, they're not.
Do you think that just because you are getting a piece of a japanese car that yours will be faster, just because it's japanese? it wont.

I'm sorry, but yes I have seen slow JDM cars. And in my opinion, what you are talking about doing is the biggest show of rice I have ever seen. Of course that is just my opinion.

I was comparing the model to us models and YES the jdm models are faster then the US models. I am also building the motor and tranny in it. I am not being a poser and putting an h22 in my car and saying it's fast.

Dont see how a rhd car will be faster...i can tell you that my rhd accord isnt any quicker than what i understand US cars to be

also you have to think of practicality, such as passing up slow cars on those one lane roads/freeways. wont be able to do that with much confidence now. the US is geared towards left hand drive cars, but hey if you wanna do it then go ahead you money and sound like you're pretty set on it. but imo waste of time and money. rather spend that money on something else.

it's not my daily driver so it shouldn't be that bad. I was just thinking about it to do something different. Money wise it's the same cost to cut the car as to pull the engine and tranny and do a manual conversion. I appriciate your help for the people who had gave me you assistance.

why not just swap everything out from the rhd clip to yours? sure it will be a **** load of work, but sounds better than rewelding the jdm clip onto yours :\

I am not saying that I am just going to do the rhd and that's it. I am also going to turbo charge the h22 in it and rebuild the top and bottom end of the h22.

Just do the RHD conversion already. You said you were debating between going RHD or not but it seems like your debating against our opinions. You asked what we thought about it, most of us said we dont like it, and you get all defensive saying "but its being different" and "but jdm cars are faster" and all the other reasons why its better. No hard feelings.. if your have the extra money then go ahead and do the RHD conversion instead of wasting our time debating against you and your idea of trying to be different.
