Rear brakes cold
Hello I have a 1996 Honda Accord Ex 2.2L over 200,000 miles.
I have recently changed all my brake pads and lubed all necessary hardware up and bled the brakes. For some reason both rear brake rotors are kinda cold to the touch and never really get hot. Both rear brake calipers are just about a year old!! Any ideas why they arent doing there part?

Re: Rear brakes cold
Rear brakes will need quite a bit of braking to get some heat in them. Fronts do about 70% of the work, so expect the rears to be considerably cooler than the fronts.
Besides the heat issue, why else do you think the rears are not working?
Does the car take longer to stop than before?
When backing up and braking, does the car stop normally or does the car keep rolling/dragging to a stop?
Verify the rear calipers are properly adjusted.
Does the parking brake hold the car on a slight incline in Neutral?
Is the pedal normal travel or long?

Re: Rear brakes cold
The heat issue was my main concern because i could literally be going 70mph and bring the car to a full stop get out of the car and hold either rear brake rotors with out getting burned.. does this sound normal?
- The car doesnt really take longer to stop than before. Ive checked the rear brakes this past weekend and everything looked good moving freely and greased correctly.
- When I back up and brake the car stops normally nothing out of the ordinary..
- ** On a pretty good incline 10 clicks of the E-Brake will not hold the car from rolling backwards
- The pedal travel is normal and feels good.

Re: Rear brakes cold
Just a guess but pull the rear pads and be sure the "nub" on the backing plate of the inboard pad is aligned into the "slot" on the caliper piston.

Re: Rear brakes cold
I seen a video on Youtube of a guy setting his E-brake on a Honda and one side was dragging and the other side wasnt.
He had rear drum brakes and simply adjusted the side that had less drag to an equal drag with the otherside. My question is I have rear disc brakes and one side is dragging at 1 click and the otherside takes quite a few more clicks to engage... What is the cause of this unequalized set up

After creating a free Autozone account you have access to free repair guides. You can try adjusting the parking brake after making sure the self adjuster is working correctly. Also you can try bleeding the rear brake lines to be sure that there is no air in there. If air is in the line then the air would compress and the rear brakes wouldn't work as much as normal.
