Power steering questions
I Have a 98 sedan V6. My power steering pump would whine every now and then because I have a leak. I would normally just put more power steering fluid in and it would stop till my fluid was low again. Well it started whining again and the power steering fluid is at a ok level. I dont know if the power steering pump finally took a dump on me as I don't see any leaks around the power steering pump BUT it does leak under the car on the side the reservoir is on. I know I need to start by finding where the leak is coming from BUT also since the reservoir is still holding more than enough fluid should i start by maybe flushing the system and if that doesn't work then just replace the pump?

Re: Power steering questions
Scotty Kilmer has a couple of YouTube videos. "Fixing sticking power steering" , "Fixing noisy power steering" and "Replacing a groaning power steering pump" Those should cover what you need to know. there is also a liquid polymer called AT-205 Re-seal that can sometimes stop gasket leaks on power steering. You can get it on Amazon, but it is not in many auto parts stores.

Re: Power steering questions
If reservoir is hold fluid then it shouldn't have a leak unless it cracked high up. I would think your inner drivers side steering rack gasket has failed. This will require removing the entire rack from the car to tear down the rack. Its not hard to do but will give you a nice Saturday worth of work.
