Default H22A or H23A in a 92 Accord

I Have a 92 Accord and I'm wondering what would be da best engine to swap a H22a or H23a. I haven't bought the engine yet but I'm plannin on buyin it in da next week or so. I know on the H22a u have to wire up the v-tec so if dat's da best way to go let me know and does anyone know how to wire it up to make it work also do any of u know da best place to order it from Hit me back and let me know asap

Well the h22 would be good for NA because of its high compression versus the h23 would be good for boost because of low compression and DOHC. It depends on what you want to do with your car. Either will swap

edit: Just make sure to get OBD1 because wiring for obd2 is a bitch.

OBD1-92-96 for either motor

If that is the case get a USDM. I mean if you are going forced induction the H23 is the right motor but do not buy a JDM one. First understand that the H23 was not made in Japan. There was an F22B DOHC non-vtec which is a replacement motor for the H23, but with the same hp rated at 160 it just makes no sense to buy that motor for more.

I know that the H22 will bolt rite u to my motor mounts without changing anything but will the H23 do the same and do I need to change anything in the wiring harness to make it work

you guys are talkin crazy talk....the H23A was never a USDM engine at all. It's a JDM and EDM engine offered in 98-02 Accord wagon and in some Accord VTIs. And its a sad day when a H23A is rated 160 hp.....that means you dogged the hell out of it. It's 200hp JDM...... i just bought 1 to turbo......im sick of this F22B1 nonsense

H23A1 is USDM rated 160hp.....dont get it tangled or twisted and know your blocks

my jdm h22a is fast it pulls like a mug I have the exhaust, intake, venom 400, stage 2 exedy clutch, skunk 2 stage 2 cams, greddy timing belt, act 8 lb flywheel and it runs pretty strong.

eventually i'ma get some more head work and at the end of august i'm goin to get a p28 or p72 and get it chipped and run hondata with it but as for right now it's bout to go to the paint shop.

you will need to TAP THE TRANNY. Or else the motor will be off a bit, and wont sit straight in a 90-93

AND YES its a straight bolt in as far a motor mounts go.. no need to buy a MOUNT KIT.. i have done 2 h22a swaps in 90-93 accord and they all went smooth!! only thing is you need to tap the tranny!

h22's do NOT like nitrous.. because of nickle/copper plated sleeves.. they disperse heat well.. but break down easily under higher than stock cylinder stress!

i dont know of many motors that "like" nitrous...on an h22 however something like a 35 shot is perfectly ok. kinda weak imo. although i have seen some rings go bye bye

if it took 42 days its time for the mechanic to shoot himself, i can do swpas like that in 1-2 days working solo.

and as far as the nitrous argument, its a bunch of BS, the sleeves are not nickel plated or anything like that. they are fiber reinforced aluminum....and the only reason you cant go too high with nitrous is the sudden impact of the nitrous on the cast pistons hurting rings and ringlands. people make 300+ whp on stock block h22a's turboed all day long cause htey use better engine management.

Actually that would be the H23A2 with the vtec, which came from a JDM AWD Accord wagon.

yeah he told me he could do that swap in 2-3 days but he was wrong and **** is wrong like my horn dont work my airbags or my cruise control...and on top of that the damn thing over heats i was sitting at a stop light and the temp started to rise so i reved it up to 2 grand and it stoped overheating... and it over heats when you turn the heater on...
