Got a free F22 sitting here, what should I do with it?
I've got a free F22 from a 92 LX Accord, and I am kind of wanting to build it. I also have two D15B7's too. I work in auto parts, and I can get parts relatively cheap, so I have been thinking about rebuilding the motor. I was wanting to maybe put in aftermarket pistons, and do head work to it. I was wondering what kind of aftermarket support for F series there is, and the prices I would be looking at. The main thing I'm worried about is what to do with the motor after I'mn done. I don't have an Accord or Prelude to drop it into, but I do have a 5th gen Civic in need of a motor. I want to do something different, and I've never seen a Civic with an F series in it. I am wanting to rebuild the motor, to have a project to do. Something to spend time on. Also considered the rarely done H22 head on the F22 block. Waste of time and money?

vtec or not, it's still slow as fwak, what is your point?
i rather have a non-vtec turbo F sohc over vtec turbo, not to mention how much pita to tune after vtec cross over

it's not hard at all to tune w/ an sohc vtec. vtec heads will flow better than non-vtec but I digress, boost it!

Re: (di3go)
I was thinking about boosting it too, then dropping it into the civic... never seen it done before... but like i said before, i also have never seen an H22 head equipped F22 in a civic either... and I like the thought of that being a challenge...

U didn't give a budget, so here's my take.
bullet proof the block w/ 9.0 compression ( prob don't need to sleeve )
build up the cyl head
port n polish the cyl head & intake manifold
suitable turbo cam w/ gear
Balla B turbo of your choice running 1 BAR
AEM EMS
drop it in the civic
You figure about 450hp but 350+ tq at about 3k and you would blow the **** out of most other honda's out there if you can get it to hook up
but back to reality

So, that expands my abilities a bit... Buy one component at a time... Hell, I've got a t3 with less than 5000 miles on it sitting withing 5 feet from me right now...

Re: (95IntegraLSR)
I am almost positive a f22 block with h22a head gives relativly low compression with stock pistons. so you can boost it even with the low comp. But if you really want to know info on the f series/hseries and the frankestians go to the prelude forum they are talked about all the time and theres a handfull or more with it done success fully.

Hell, if you want a real challenge, figure out how to get 400tq by about 2500rpm on a f series motor.

I believe there is a huge thread that discuss the f22\h22 head swap. Also if you want to keep it all f series put an A1 head on there from what i have researched they have a higher flow rate than the b1 head. You should check out homemadeturbo.com in the Forced Induction Fourm. They have a wicked boosted accord that is pushing 490hp on what looks like an f series motor. Maybe someone else can confirm this since it has a o--o-o--o header?
