cold starting problem!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey all....my 90 lx has an issue. it is about 40 degrees here in san antonio texas and when i start my car in the morning it turns over fine but then it just DIES after a minute of running and will NOT turn over again. i just did a full tune-up and everything. this mainly only happens in cold weather however it happened the other day when i was in some slight traffic and the damn car just died. also when i give the car some gas when trying to start it, it makes some loud *** popping noises.....wtf? anyone have any ideas. i did some searching on here and didn't really find anything but the main relay which is something i will check later. this car is pissin me off!

thanks!

Actually sounds like a loose battery terminal to me. Make sure your terminals are on the posts securely and then make sure the terminal bolts are tightened down good and no wires appear to be sliding out.

lmao uh no. everything basic has been checked. my starter works, my battery is brand new, my cap/rotor/plugs/wires just changed. has something to do with the cold start or my CAI and the vacuum i am thinking. just wanted to check and see if anyone else has had this before.

I'm having the same problem. It turned out to be my coolant temperature sensor being broken. It tells the ecu if the car is cold or hot and controls air/fuel accordingly. I hope this helps. Check it out and let us know. Thanks.

Chk the link for the sensor location.

Also, forget about it being the main relay. The main relay only acts up when its hot out, not cold.

get electrical contact cleaner and clean all of the under hood connections and the connection to the ecu fuse and that would fix your prolblem. same thing happned to my explorer when i was using a piggy back chip to tune with when i switched to a flasher my problems went away
