autozone will scan them for free but by law cant and wont delete your codes or "reset" the CEL......i would go to sears and by the pocket mate scan tool for 50...its very basic and will pull codes and delete them

Don't know about the '01, but my '99 Accord resets this way: push & hold the odometer reset button as you start the car - keep holding and wait until the light goes out. Lots of things cause the check engine light to go on - like 3000 miles since last reset, meaning time for another oil change. Good luck.

thats the maintenance required light not the check engine light....and 3000 miles since last oil change will not caused the check engine light to go on...again thats the maintenance required light

You have to either buy a unit as stated above to remove the code yourself, go to the dealer, or take it to a mechanic that has the equipment to do it.
The CEL cannot be reset with any function in the car. Only the Maintenance light.
