simply find the drain screw behind the passenger side wheel. you need lift your car a little bit to access it easily with a socket wrench. the jack in your trunk is enough for me to do that. drain the fluid and then put back the screw and add new fluid through the place where you check your tranny fluid level.

you can buy new fluid from any Honda dealer for about $6/quart. you need three quarts.

7 buck a quart in my dealer

the drain plug is a square 3/8inch hole, which is standard for all honda transmission drains.

3 qt. for simple drain and refill, the change all the old fluid complete requires around 9 qt.

which is still pretty cheap consider VW's auto juice is around 29.99 buck a qt

I don't know for sure about the fifth generation, but here's what my owner's manual says for my '99 LX (different generation):

For normal conditions it is every 6 years or 90,000 miles, whichever comes first.

For severe conditions it's every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

first of all make sure your car is cool and has been off for like atleast 20 minuets to allow the fluid too cool off..the transmission drain bolt is located near the passenger side wheel. you cant miss it. and you can get HONDA ATF fluid from: http://www.secureleadercom.com...block you can go to a honda dealer but it will be a few dollars more. but if you want to save a few and wait a few days to get it delivered. then go with TAS AUTO.

all you need is about 4 bottles or even 3 for some people. i normally put 4 or 3 1/2. then after putting the new fluid in the tranny (through the tranny's dipsitck hole) make sure you have a long funnel with a long spout. run the car until its at normal operation temp. then cycle the shifter from R-N-D...etc a few times. then if you want go for a little cruise around.
