Re-installing axle -- is it in far enough?
I'm putting the car back together after replacing the rear beam and I'm having a hard time getting my left-side axle in far enough. This is a 1991 Accord automatic wagon:
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to go further in ???

indeed it is not far in enough some times its as simple as taking it out and really lining it up good and then just giving it a good push in, not difficult at all.

on really stuborn ones i have took a wood block and place it against inner axle housing right where boot clamp is and tap with hammer, but got to be carefull b/c can bust boot. i have had some axles that is was a must. its the little c clip on end of axle that usually stops them.

I first tried sliding it in with a firm push, then rotating it slightly and trying again.
When that didn't work I put the axle nut on, lined up the whole axle as straight as possible and tapped GENTLY with my little sledge hammer. It popped right in.
