97 Wagon, was hard starting, wont anymore.. help
For months my accord wagon lx auto has been hard to start, sometimes takes almost minutes of cranking, it will turn over fine, it sounds like its firing a couple cylinders, and then after a while of cranking, you will hear another cylinder fire.
Then after it starts on what sounds like 3 cylinders, you have to keep on the gas pedal to not let it die, and once you're on the gas long enough, 20-30 seconds later, if not less, all cylinders will fire fine and the car will drive all day long with no hesitations.
It will actually start right back up with no hesitation after being driven for a matter of time, so I think I can rule out the infamous main relay because its starts right back up with no problem.
It seems to only be a problem after its let sit for 4+ hours or so.
One time it didn't start for me after trying for about an hour, reseating the wires, etc. Nothing would get it to go, so during this time I replaced the spark plugs, it fired right up no problem with new spark plugs, but in only days the problem arose again.. hard to start in the mornings, temperature doesn't seem to make a difference..
And now only weeks later, I can't get it to start at all after only about 7 hours of sitting. Yet it drives great all day long when its running
I can smell fuel when im cranking, it gets spark.
I just replaced the dizzy cap and rotor, didn't help a bit..
I'm considering the main relay for elimination purposes but I really don't believe its the cause.
If you need anymore information, I'm not going anywhere, literally..
Thanks guy
